Help needed to make a decision

Good plan. I'm not a fan of how Ford lays things out in their engine bay, and some of the over complexities that ensue. The newer stuff has gotten a lot better, but the simplicity of maintenance and repairs on a GM fullsize vs a Ford is enough for me to stick with it for awhile.

Humming only in auto mode only on deceleration

You are probably hearing transfer case noise from the clutches, or possibly some front differential noise from the axles being engaged and ready for 4wd. I'd advise to only use when wet, icy, or snowy. Leave it in 2wd for dry days. Check the condition of the front different oil. These are...

how to protect your rig from salt damage??

I've heard of similar- CON-SALT is the name I believe. It just boils down to chemistry, you need to make it inert. Dissolved baking soda in water works too. I tried this as a test on my 2017 one time with an injection nozzle for my pressure washer. It did do a chemical reaction for...

    GM frame fix

I've heard from people that had that done and they basically put a new rolling Chassis under the truck (minus wheels and tires). At that point you could refresh the drivetrain and body panels as needed and have a new-ish truck again. Definitely a win-win for those who took the offer.

    GM frame fix

Basically EVERY truck in salt states. It will be interesting to see how that works out for really bad ones. Brings back the memory of the Tacoma frame fiasco. Now if they could be held accountable for crappy body panels that just melt away from rust, that would be great too.

how to protect your rig from salt damage??

Agreed 100% with @15burban. I live in WI as well and do the same thing. The trick is to start with a clean and DRY vehicle before putting any coating on. After 20+ years of perfecting my system, I only go with fluid film (or equivalent). Do NOT use rubberized undercoating. It will only work...

    Yukon water torture

I don't think we should jump on the guy. He's sharing his experience, as do a lot of us. Nobody likes to hear that some of the things we spend a lot of money on, and have brand loyalty towards, are problematic. However, I see this as someone's experience, and their solutions.......or lack...

    2008 Yukon Denali wheel bearing

I don't want to jinx myself, but I have NEVER had to replace a wheel bearing on any of the 2000-2017 GM fullsize vehicles I've owned over the last 22 years. Many of them well over 100k, and some well over 200k. I never saw it as a common issue. Luckily they are an easy repair if that...

Slow fuel fill because of a bad tank?

Glad you found the problem. The older I get, the more "wanna-be's" I see in the trades, especially auto mechanics. It's hard to find someone who has a work ethic that involves critical thinking, honesty, and a good base knowledge. There are a lot of half-assed dopes out there who probably...

    annoying noise

Agreed with above ^^^^^ I'd also recommend taking the main belt off and see if anything changes. If it does, then you have a starting area to look. You could also try having someone drive for you, or change rpm in park while you sleuth around to try and find the offender

2020 Yukon SLT - Maintenance Interval Question

All good info this far. I tend to go by multiples of 5. 5k for oil, 5k for tire rotate, air filter whenever it looks needed - usually 25k or so. Trans service if all highway driving 50k, if hilly/stop and go/trailering then I do 40k. Transfer case, same as trans. Diffentials: rear every...

    2008 Yukon Denali wheel bearing

I figured they were similar to what's in front wheel drive cars. I worked on a buick lucerne that was eating bearings and found the nut was just run down with an impact. Replaced the bearing and torqued nut to spec and it hasn't been back. My experience anyways. May be different with these, but...

    2008 Yukon Denali wheel bearing

The only preload I'm aware on new, sealed, bearings is the axle nut torque. If you run er home with the old impact, chances are you'll get to do it again in a few thousand miles. You can run the nut down with the impact, but do the last couple threads with a torque wrench and a long pry bar to...

Not sure. I'll play around with it when I get back home in a few weeks. I'll try to remember to report back

    Buyers Remorse?

I've had similar repairs, but bought the platinum extended warranty because they offered it cheaper than 1 moderate repair. 2017 Denali, 6.2L with 41K on it. GM partially covered wheels that had flaking clear coat on the 22 inch wheels (with help from a good dealership). GM also covered the...

    Engine replacement labor costs

What about FB marketplace for someone parting out a truck? Or, maybe finding a wrecked lower mileage one and stealing anything of value off it and junking the rest? Not sure what your scope of operations are, but could work as well. Totally sucks though, I would feel the same. Especially...

    Vibration at 80mph

I had an issue with my 2017 yukon at highway speeds - around 80 mph. I could feel it in my butt. Tires were new and balanced. I pulled the rear driveshaft down and found the axle end u-joint was stiff to move by hand. No corrosion could be seen. I replaced it and all was good. After I...

    Engine replacement labor costs

For 10k, I'd just look down south or out west for a rust free, lower mileage unit and move on. Maybe you could find someone who want to part out yours, or do it yourself and recoup some of the loss?

2019 Tahoe corroded freon tube leak - manfr design flaw

Your best bet is to get some fluid film and have an afternoon rust proofing party. Soak all that stuff in the goo and seal it up from moisture and salt. I can't stand the stupidity of some engineers these days. But, it may have been swept under the rug as planned obsolescence to drive future...

Most definitely ask for extended coverage. Something that new and expensive shouldn't be having failures like that.

    I feel a clunk from a stop.

Maybe the slip yoke at the trans output shaft. Used to be common years back. If the splines get dry or worn, they can make noise, or feel like a clunk when it moves under acceleration

    Mysterious miss

Have you looked at the TBI gasket under the injector ring? I've seen them get dry rotted and cracked. They will then suck extra air and cause a lean condition
