Less than top notch tires for a good deal in 265/65R18

Ive always had good luck with Yokohamas on my 4x4 pickups and 4x4/AWD SUV's. Ride great on the highway, wear is great, perform acceptable off road and winter weather (I live in the midwest) and they dont cost a fortune. Seriously you just cant go wrong with them. I get them at Walmart.

2005 5.3 Tahoe running rough/stalling only when hot

"I slammed the hood and it started running rough again." This could be a clue. Take a screwdriver with engine running and warmed up and LIGHTLY smack the MAF body and if the engine starts stumbling and then comes out of it MAF is good. If engine immediately dies then the MAF is likely bad...

    Fuel Pressure PSI

Sure looks like the fuel pump is done. They typically drag the death process out forever and just get worse and worse and cause all kinds of problems like rough running, hard to start, running lean, stalling and on and on. They ALWAYS wait until you completely fill the tank and are out in the...

"Soft" brake pedal when engine running

Yup and I will take it one further....if ANY line was opened up, he has air trapped at the solenoids in the ABS manifold if a thorough Bi directional scanner auto bleed wasnt performed. I had to replace a line from the manifold to the master cylinder and Ill tell you what I thought I was never...

    AWD Growl sometimes

A screwdriver can do that. You stick the tip on the area to be checked and stick your ear on the end of the screwdriver while the vehicle is on a lift and in gear with drivetrain turning. A stethoscope is essentially what a screwdriver takes place of.

    AWD Growl sometimes

Thats right, im thinking old school setup. Theres a drain and fill plug on it. ;) You will have to pull the stubout to get visual inspection. Stubout is the section on the right side of the pic.

2005 5.3 Tahoe running rough/stalling only when hot

The Downstream O2 Sensors only purpose in life is to tell you that your cats have gone bad. They are not used for any kind of lean/rich calibration for the PCM. The Upstream O2 Sensors only purpose in life is to tell the PCM whether your engine is running rich/lean and the PCM adjusts your fuel...

    AWD Growl sometimes

Well the drivetrain aint turning in park so that rules out the diffs and hubs. The front diff has a cover just like the rear diff does FYI.

    Help identify a sound

Yup sure sounds like a pinion or axle bearing getting loaded up on a pitted race. They typically get noisy the most when letting off the throttle. Id be inspecting diffs for glitter!!! There is also a chance that a bearing in the BW AWD unit is the culprit too! I dont envy your future of laying...

    AWD Growl sometimes

Glitter in the front diff is definitely something to be checking on. Pull the cover, drain and inspect gears and pinion bearing for slop. Was hub torqued properly? You can install the shiniest of hubs new and not properly torque and trash it in weeks of driving on it.

KNOCK SENSOR ISSUE ON BRAND NEW ENGINE 05 TAHOE

Compression check. Please tell me you didnt reuse plugs, wires, sensors and coils on a new block. Verify ALL engine wire harnesses are where they are suppose to be and not pinched between tranny and block and anywhere else possible during engine install and final assembly of bolt ons.

2005 5.3 Tahoe running rough/stalling only when hot

Unmetered air really shows its ugly head when in closed loop. Spray some starting fluid or the like around the intake manifold flats at the heads and see if RPM raises or sputters. Have any current UPSTREAM O2 sensor codes? Active FLASHING check engine light? All plug wires should be new or...

    1999 Tahoe, soft brake pedal

Theres a very good collection of good guys on here with everything from super freaks who stick 6.0's with goodies mounted on the engine in place of their tired 5.3L, transmission rebuilders (for a living) to guys that have owned or do own repair shops. Its all here and everything in between. I...

New cam and higher # injectors?

Your current fuel system is not setup for ethanol which is highly corrosive. You also do not have the octane sensor in your tank.

    1999 Tahoe, soft brake pedal

Did you get the little rod that goes into the brake booster out of the old one and install into your new one? Is your brake light coming on? I suspect you still have some air trapped at your ABS manifold because you didnt use an auto bleed feature of a bidirectional scanner. Seen this scenario...

    Rough start on 1/4th tank?

Assuming OP's driveway is relatively level, there would be no chance of the fuel pump being unsubmerged with roughly 5-6gals of gas in the tank at 1/4 tank. Even at a decent incline the pump would never be unsubmerged because the sump area that fuel pump sits in is pretty deep so gas is trapped...

    OK to reuse thermostat housing?

You can never go wrong with the paper gaskets and RED rtv. GEN 1 SBC came factory with paper gaskets and never had Orings and ive never ever seen a Gen 1 water pump leak except at the weep hole or the nose at the shaft. Toss the oring if its leaking and dont put another on there.

    AC has me stumped

My bet is OP has a leak and the LP cutoff switch is not allowing the PCM to get enable signal which is ultimately what allows the PCM to send out coil signal for the control relay for the A/C clutch so the clutch not engaging. OP needs to get gauges on the low side and report what it is...

    Breaks Went Out on Me

OP you are in for a treat if it turns out one of your brake lines are rusted through. You will learn new cuss words that you never new existed because you will invent them yourself. You will be so pissed off that you wont be able to see straight. The fun doesnt even end with just changing the...

"Soft" brake pedal when engine running

If you opened up the hydraulic system which you most certainly did when you changed out calipers.....that caused the issue. And that issue is air trapped in the system that you will never get out without a bidirectional scanner using the auto bleed feature. Is your BRAKE light on in the...

"Soft" brake pedal when engine running

So hydraulic system has been opened up since you "swapped calipers". You got air trapped in your ABS manifold. It will take a very long time of locking up the brakes to activate the ABS pump and then bleeding to get it all out, if ever. You need a bidrectional scan tool and perform an auto...

Immobilizer? Bypass? How safe are these ignitions?

The Passlock system will not keep someone from popping the ignition or steering wheel lock but once they do that within 10secs of them starting the vehicle, Passlock will kill fuel supply to the engine then it dies. Passlock sensor in the igntion lock cylinder is just looking for the metal key...

    4l60e with 195k Need Advice

I dont recommend you learn on your tranny if you have to have it for transportation. Now if its a spare vehicle that can be down then go for it. I also dont recommend your first build be without someone there that is experienced in that model. Its nice to have someone doublecheck your work...
