Sorry to bump an old post, but I have the fix for this!!
I had this EXACT problem with my 2015 Suburban, and after extensive research online I realized there is not a lot of GOOD information on a true root cause/fix. I will include details of my repair journey which ultimately led me to the...
This may me a total shot in the dark here, but given that RPMs are making it more noticable, and that a brake booster replacement seems to possibly have sparked this noise, have you taken a look at the vacuum pump that's on the front belt accessory drive? It's a belt driven pump that's the...
UPDATE!!
Engine and 6L90 trans are in! Front clip is back on! Now we are down to the tuning and driveshaft. Technician stated that there was around 50 error codes when it was first started, and he quickly got it down to under 20 codes. I'm not savvy in tuning whatsoever, but he says that's a...
Hello all! As the title says, I am seeking advice on removing the carpet from my 2015 Suburban. It is in need of a deep cleaning and removing it seems to be the best path to get the results I am looking for. My main question is whether the center console will need removed, or if the carpet is...
I'm just quoting what my local GM service manager told me. I don't have a dog in the fight one way or another. I will ask a similar question however, what would be the plan if OP had a transmission breakdown while on family vacation several states away that "expert local rebuilder" installed...
I am by no means a transmission expert, so I'll lead with that.
When looking at it from strictly a financial aspect...my thoughts here are that despite the possible lower quality build that you'd get from a GM transmission...the fact that you would have a nationwide warranty that can be...
I purchased a grille from a Suburban LTZ with the intent to make it an RST grille. First pic is how it looked when I bought it. 2nd pic is with it taken apart. The "surround" area will be paint matched Champagne Silver Metallic, and the "inner" area will be gloss black. It was quite a chore to...
I hadn't gave the rear axle much thought. My thinking was that this power train is SOMEWHAT similar in power to the 6.2, so I was hopeful I could maintain my stock rear.
After some research online, I think I may have 3.08 gearing, and it appears the 6.2 Suburbans have 3.23. So I may not be TOO...
I just had an idea...call me crazy, IDK.
Wonder if I was to contact Whipple once this thing is running and see if they'd be willing to do a supercharger build with my Suburban? Like for advertisement, and with it being such a unique, possibly 1-of-1 build. Maybe they'd cover parts and I cover...
I'm hopeful that I can use the cats and cross-over from the donor engine. The diameter of the piping, diameter of the cats, and the overall angles of it could be too big but we shall see. I don't have pics for a good side by side comparison, but the downpipe and cats from the 6.6 are MASSIVE...
UPDATE!! New engine and transmission is being transplanted!! Man I'm EXCITED!!
Also I got some subtle badging that I will be putting on. Not sure if I'll use the hood line, similar to the 6.2 Silverado, or maybe the lower right corner of the lift gate....
I may be missing the bigger picture here, but my Suburban has the electronic steering gear, as seen in the pictures. No power steering fluid reservoir or fluid to contend with. From what I am seeing (pictures were sent from my technician), could he not just install the new engine and hook my...
Welcome from KY! I think there are many variables to consider here. How much are you purchasing the Suburban for? How would you feel if a $6-$8k repair bill was to unexpectedly fall into your lap? Would you still feel like it was a good buy? Test drives sometimes go so smoothly because as a...
My technician is in the process of pulling my old engine and transmission out today! I believe the current plan for the vacuum pump/brakes is to tap into the pcv system for the vacuum needed to the booster. He rattled it off real quick and talked over my head a little lol.
I did google and it...
My thought is that the the p/s reservoir and pulley would be removed from the 6.6 engine and discarded. Likely would then need a custom length belt I suppose since it would no longer route around that pulley.
From that point, since we're planning to utilize my Suburban ECM, the steering...
Anyone have insight on whether I would be able to maintain the 6.6 belt driven components? Such as a/c compressor, alternator, and water pump? I would feel better using the 6.6 stuff as opposed to using my 186k mile stuff from my 5.3. The new 6.6 came fully dressed with all belt driven...
As for your liftgate issue, I would put my bet on it being your liftgate shocks. They can be purchased on Amazon for around $100 or so for the set. The lifting mechanism/actuator is in the driver side shock. The passenger side is more or less there for stability, but I would definitely recommend...
From my understanding...yes you are correct. A stroker 6.2 without the DOD/AFM, and is designed to run on 87 octane while making more HP and TQ than the 6.2. I am told that I should be able to discard the mechanical fan and use my stock electric fans, and same with the power steering. We shall see!
UPDATE!
Engine and transmission delivered earlier than expected! Delivered by Dayton Freight. A++ job on the palletization and overall packaging! This thing is a MONSTER! 10/10 Schram Auto Parts...HIGHLY RECOMMEND! My technician states he may be able to get started on it by the end of the week!
