'17 Yukon Denali w/65k miles.. Thinking of buying

Welcome from KY! I think there are many variables to consider here. How much are you purchasing the Yukon for? Is it from a GM dealership? How would you feel if a $6-$8k repair bill was to unexpectedly fall into your lap? Would you still feel like it was a good buy? I ask because of my journey...

2015 Yukon Denali CEL and Traction light, Dealer quotes $13K?

My next door neighbor is the service manager at our local Chevy dealership. My Suburban is currently dead, needing an engine AND transmission. He quoted me in the low to mid $9k range for a GM reman engine. They do not use new. Needless to say, I purchased a 6.6 gas engine/transmission w/3...

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

This is very promising! May I ask which vehicle you swapped the L8T into? The 6.6 I am swapping comes fully dressed with all accessories, so I am hoping to maintain as much of the new stuff as I can. I was however, hoping to maintain my stock E92 ECM, as it seems using the 6.6 ECM (E93) could...

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

So here's the story on this... The seller is out of Michigan. Schram Auto Parts. They have this truck, and about 20 or so GMC Savana 3500 and Chevy Express 3500 Cutaway cab/chassis vans. There was a fairly significant train derailment at some point, and GM filed these on their insurance. With...

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

UPDATE!! Engine/transmission has been purchased! The seller will be palletizing and prepping for shipment by weekend, and I should receive it by the middle of next week! I'm freaking PUMPED!! Here are some pics of the donor vehicle and engine/transmission...

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

The donor vehicle with the L8T is not available for me to get the driveshaft from. I talked to my technician today and he suggested that (if needed) we could utilize a driveline shop that's the next town over and have them cut down the driveshaft. Feeling pretty good about this! In the final...

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

The next point of contention here looks to be whether the 6L90 transmission could be made to fit my Suburban? The donor L8T comes with a 6L90 attached to it. Both my Suburban and the donor are 2WD. Of course my Suburban has the 6L80. Any insight on what would need to be done? Perhaps shorten...

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

I am also interfacing with someone on the HP tuners forum who has successfully done this swap on a Sierra Denali 1500. This was his response... It will be an awesome swap. My daily is a 2016 Sierra Denali with a 6.6L swap. If you can get the complete engine, that would be the way to go. In your...

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

I've lucked up on this technician. He is the one who turned me on to HP tuners, so I'm hoping it'll be smooth. A couple things I'm seeing that I had not previously accounted for... The L8T engine uses a hydraulic power steering system rather than electronic on the Suburban. Would it be easy...

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

This is correct. I am eyeing a full engine/transmission dropout from a 2021 Silverado 2500 to put in my 2015 Suburban. I found that HP Tuners has in fact cracked the ECM of those engines, which gives me more faith that this may be an attainable swap. I am awaiting the green light from my...

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

My research suggests that both the 5.3 L83 and the 6.6 L8T are both direct injected. So maybe that part won't be an issue?

6.6 Gas L8T Engine Swap in 2015 Suburban

Hello all! My 2015 Suburban is currently dead. 186k miles with a collapsed lifter and a VERY tired transmission. Current plan was to refresh the engine with non-AFM parts, and go back with a GM reman 6l80 transmission. However, I am recently seeing a lot of information about the L8T engine...

    2015 Suburban Problem Child

UPDATE! The lifter did in fact leave the chat lol! I was driving to work and as I was pulling into the parking lot, I started to get a very noticeable misfire. I limped it home, scanned and it showed a cylinder 4 misfire. Same bank and location where the lifter sound was coming from. I drove...

    2016 Yukon multiple intermittent issues

As for the fan issue, which is also tied to your AC and temp gauge issue.... I had this EXACT problem with my 2015 Suburban, and after extensive research online I realized there is not a lot of GOOD information on a true root cause/fix. I will include details of my repair journey which...

    2015 AFM Hard Delete Questions

Hello all! I am on the verge of doing a hard/full AFM delete on my 2015 Suburban 5.3, 2WD with 186k miles. I know this topic has been discussed at great lengths on the forum, as I have found through the search function. However I am hoping to get some insight into my specific situation. My...

    No gps signal

Have you checked to see if your satellite (Sirius/XM) radio is working? If not, this is definitely an issue with the shark fin antenna on the roof of your vehicle. I had the same exact issue you are detailing here. Luckily my neighbor is a GM service manager, and he immediately commented that...

2015 Chevy Tahoe PPV Issues - Just Bought off Auction

I had this exact issue on my 2015 Suburban. Tried swapping the temperature sensor, to no avail. Ended up buying the thermostat assembly from GM, and it fixed it. Temp gauge stays right in the middle, where it should be. A/C started engaging again, all is well. What you are likely experiencing...

    2015 Suburban Problem Child

Hello to all! I purchased a 2015 Suburban about 6 weeks ago. First time owning one, and I fell in love during the test drive. It's got quite a lot of miles, 186k to be exact. It's 2WD, which was actually appealing to me as well, as the weather here rarely warrants a 4WD. Paid $17,500. Pics below...

Blower motor making noise after filter change

I had the same exact thing happen when changing the cabin filter on my 2015 Suburban last month. I pulled the blower motor, and sure enough there was 2 very small pieces of leaf debris that fell into the motor. I removed those, put it back together and it's good as new now!
