2008 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Crew Cab AWD- QUESTION

So I am looking at acquiring a new rig. Specifically looking at a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Crew Cab AWD. This truck comes with the 6.2 engine. Anyone have any thoughts on this compared to the an 08-09 Sierra SLT 4wd? I know it all depends on what my plans are for it, but specifically...

    Po305 Misfire Cylinder 5

All: I really appreciate the dialog. @OR VietVet - yes I swapped plugs 1 and 5, also swapped coil packs and wires. No change. I even threw a new plug in there. No change. I do suspect a vacuum leak somewhere. I wonder if there is another bad plug somewhere and it’s throwing a code for cylinder...

    Po305 Misfire Cylinder 5

At this point I’m thinking maybe fuel or air issue. I’d be surprised if it was something internal in the cylinder. But we will find out. Gonna enjoy my weekend for now. On Monday I’ll take it into the steelership and have them diagnose it. $$$ Go from there. Will report back.

    Po305 Misfire Cylinder 5

@OR VietVet - good points and good call on the MAF. I’m back to the drawing board on this sob. But it’s odd that CEL went off and code disappeared when I put it back in. Nonetheless, tomorrow is another day.

    Po305 Misfire Cylinder 5

UPADTE 2: Yes this is weird. So I put that stupid thing back on, CEL turns off with no codes. Drive it for a minutes and rough rough idle and throttle. CEL back on. I’m leaning towards vacuum leak or MAF sensor bad. My question is, that little air module in there pretty good. How did it just pop...

    Po305 Misfire Cylinder 5

UPDATE: I hope someone can find some humor here. I’m standing there over the engine bay contemplating my next move. Compression test first? Or fuel pressure test? Maybe start swapping wires and coils? I’m ready to pull the trigger, coveralls on and all. So I look down and at a glance see my...

    Po305 Misfire Cylinder 5

Good suggestions. I will try and swap 1 and 5 and packs to see if it follows. Otherwise I will move on the the fuel, compression etc. I've heard others say could be o2 sensor, but I thought it had its own code. Po305 is specific to C5 misfire. Thanks for the inputs!

    Po305 Misfire Cylinder 5

@Dustin Jackson - No concerning sounds in terms ok knocking etc. This truck has ran excellent since ownership never had an issue. This morning, Engine turns over just fine but with rough idle and flashing CEL. 1. I'm suspect of the plug because I cheeped out and got the whole plug and wire set...

    Po305 Misfire Cylinder 5

2008 GMC Sierra 1500, 5.3 Vortec. On the clock about 180k miles. Started running a little rough then check engine light comes on. Run the scanner, po305 misfire cylinder 5. I pulled the plug and it looked ok. Replaced it with a different one, no change. Moved some wires around, no change...

03 Tahoe- Rear Differential Fluid Change: Questions

Yeah, slow small drip under the rear diff cover right at the bottom. Less that 1 drop per day so I ain’t too worried. Just keep an eye on it and redo the cover seal next weekend.

03 Tahoe- Rear Differential Fluid Change: Questions

So I just re-geared my 03 Tahoe from 3:73 to 4:56. After 500 miles I changed my fluids. The front diff took about 1.5 quarts, which it called for 2. But I filled it as much as it would take. The rear calls for 2.75 quarts, but I ended up putting all 3 quarts in. Stuck my pinking in there...

    03 Tahoe Code P0116- FIXED

UPDATE: So I disconnected the battery, went back through the wiring, and now all good. Everything working as it should. E-fans engage at around 205 degrees. Super happy with this project thus far. Thanks to all for the support.

    03 Tahoe Code P0116- FIXED

Yeah for sure that code points to the temp sensor. But I never messed with it. Never touched it. Ima take a look today and will circle back.

    03 Tahoe Code P0116- FIXED

I’ll take another look today. Pretty basic setup. OEM harness, blue/black & grey/ yellow to fans. Red to power, black to ground. 2 PCM wires, green to pin 42 and blue to pin 33. Uploaded tune file and into the end zone for a touchdown. Except now the temp gauge issue and P0116 code. Like I said...

    03 Tahoe Code P0116- FIXED

So I just finished my electric fan conversion on the Tahoe. Installed the Blackbear performance tune. Everything seems to work fine, except when I went for a test drive the temp gage dropped to zero. E fans working fine, gage temp initially went up to about 200. During test drive dropped to...

    E-Fan Wire, Solder or Connectors?

@adriver. Exactly the feedback I was looking for. Pretty terrible work. Big nasty booger welds. I ordered some Wego connectors and am going to redo all this. I want it to be clean. The PCM wires I soldered are X wrapped and cleanly tinned and shrink wrapped. So I will likely leave those alone.

    E-Fan Wire, Solder or Connectors?

Getting ready to install e-fans. The OEM wiring harness came out of my 05 Yukon. I cut it out cause I was in a hurry so I need to add some lengths of wire. The splices I’ve tied together and soldered instead of using splice connectors. Anyone see concern or issues with this method? Thanks, Dan

    E-Fan Wire Size

Getting close to installing my E-fans on the Tahoe. I pulled the fans out of my 05 Yukon harness and all. I’ll need to add some wire runs, as I basically cut out the harness. So question is, what are the wire sizes for the e-fans and ECU? I’m goin to guess e-fans are 16G, but hopefully someone...

Just I’m going back and Torquing down my front end post 6” lift kit. I’m tightening the front CV axle 15mm bolts and sure enough, one snapped. Now I’m looking for a replacement, can’t find them anywhere. Anyone got a line on these or at least know the thread size/pattern?

    Skyjacker C25R… Air Bag?

Right on Carl. That's what I was thinking. Them bags are short and are likely made for stock springs. I'll keep checking around.
