Update to my original post:
I finally got around to the final idea to soften my PPV ride... changing out the rear springs.
i ordered a set of Eibach 2” lowering springs as I learned the PPV rear springs are the main cause of the firm ride (along with the Monroe shocks/struts).
check out the...
If you have the DIC buttons in your Tahoe (I would make the cheap investment if you don’t) , switch the instrument gauge to where you see the V8 or V4 mode. Drive around and see if the shake happened the same time it switches from V8 to V4 .
I did the AFM/DOD delete as I was having a similar...
Trying to help you here with the suspension questions and a little confused. Did you already purchase everything you listed (struts, shocks, springs, control arms)? Or are you asking if these are the correct part numbers for the factory PPV suspension items?
I would not recommend buying any PPV...
Likely its the brake light switch. Had the same issue where all lights worked fine and no check engine light, but did see the code for the brake light switch when using my scanner.
I replaced my factory PPV steering wheel with a new civilian version, which came with the audio controls. There are videos in YouTube and the harness to make the civilian version is all there. Make sure to disconnect the battery when changing the steering wheel.
Once connected it will control...
I wouldn’t recommend adding Denali Auto Ride suspension as it would be a crazy retro fit, plus you would have to purchase many parts including the air compressor.
Now... I did do this before on a 2003 Yukon for my dad. Added the rear shocks in the back, retro fitted the compressor, but had to...
Buy a new head unit... increasing the sound quality and adding the Bluetooth at the same time (also add in front and rear cameras). Adding the steering wheel controls to the right won’t add Bluetooth as that’s a “delete item” on many build sheets (was on mine).
I would recommend getting a new...
I have RPO AP8 in my glovebox and headed to the dealership to add remote start. Didn’t get exactly what I was thinking... but it was around $250. Basically you get the key fob and a code from GM that they enter into the Tech2 scanner.
I ended up with the two way remote, which is HUGE. The pro...
Thank you so much for the great detailed example of the sway bar. I’m going to disconnect the front, then rear and see what impact it makes just driving around (not taking corners) I also like the other feedback about using a 1/2 pickup sway bar from a Sierra/Silverado and see the difference...
Just a simple question on the sway bars. Purchased Eibach rear 2” drop springs. Hope to get to them next weekend and take photos of the different in size and what note.
I know this is an old thread, but did anyone confirm that the front and rear sway bars played a role in the stiffness of the ride comfort? I know the PPV sway bars are heavy duty vs. the civilian models and designed for better cornering.
I just ordered Eibach 2” drop rear springs to see if it...
So I solved the riddle (wish I would have asked the forum before changes my perfectly good pads and rotors). Thank you to everyone who chimed in.
After changing a bunch of stuff and checking steering/suspension and drive-line items, I put my DIC into "Instant MPG" and drove around. The issue...
I replaced the driver motor mount about 4 months ago. Maybe being generic brand is causing the issue? I also replaced the transmission mount (using AC/Delco).
Would I just use my Diablo Programmer to turn off the AFM? I don't see the truck switching from V4 to V8 very much.
Again it;s only at...
I’m going to check the driveline. No clue how to check the rear diff. It’s almost like once it downshifts into 2nd gear I’m getting the issue. I only have the 4-Speed trans, even though the civilians had 6-speeds in 2009
I have a Kenwood Double-Din (nothing too fancy). Used the Maestro RR along with the GM 5+ adapter. Checkout idatalink (who is the maker of Maestro). I love the Maestro as you program it with a computer on how you want the steering wheel controls to work and gives me my trucks OBDII data in my...
Yea i only get the vibration when slowing down not accelerating. It only happens around 20-25 mph. No issues on the freeway at normal driving. The steering wheel vibration isn’t too bad, its the rear of my car i feel it the most and rattles my rear hatch the most. Might have to get a GoPro and...
You will need the original seat wiring harness from the Escalade, thats the one you would cut from the floor, but giving you enough wire. I don’t know if the 2010 has the airbags in the seats... I do know the 2011+ does. Don’t know if you will receive air bag light on the dash
I just did this...
I have been working on making my ride softer (almost there) and cutting down on road noise. So far with the dynomat of the entire truck (including behind headliner) and adding the factory carpet, the drive is getting much better, just still hate the vibrations.
This biggest issue i have had and...
Wanted to give everyone an update on my PPV harsh ride with some additional work done.
New Struts and Shocks: Went with the Belltech ProStreet (Part #9505 height adjustable) for the front and rear. Much better ride than the PPV Monroes.
Front and rear sway bar bushings and end-links
Rear coil...
The 265/60/17 tires from Firestone (FIREHAWK GT) are about $500 each and are extremely firm ride. If you want the lowered look, I recommend a 2” front drop and 3” rear drop coils/springs from Eibach or Belltech. I ditched my 265/60/17 tires as they were too firm and felt every bump.
