towing an Astro van 50 miles with my PPV

I personally wouldn’t try it. Discounnecting the drive shaft is not a big deal. Just unbolt it at the rear diff and wire it up in place so it stays put.

Tech 2 arrived today, hopefully resolved my high alcohol %

Interesting. I haven’t seen an error that large yet. On my Yukon, using Costco E10 87 here (with about 6% actual Ethanol) the highest I have seen it off was like 38%. Even at that, it ran really rich after cold starts, that is what prompted me to look at what it thought it had versus what it...

Replacement motor questions but hopefully fixable

Also, I would do the intake manifold leak test with that CRC intake manifold aerosol stuff. If you have an intake leak, it likely will show up with it.

Replacement motor questions but hopefully fixable

Did you verify with an audible test that number 4 injector was firing?

Replacement motor questions but hopefully fixable

I have never had an exhaust leak cause a misfire (at least one that leaked at the exhaust manifold). But maybe, I guess depending on the valve timing.

I agree, a U-Haul Tow Dolly is all you need. You will need to unhook the driveshaft (I think the Astro was RWD?). Take it easy when towing, use the tow mode on the end of the shift stalk.

Replacement motor questions but hopefully fixable

So you have fire (spark), compression (compression tested good) and you have fuel (jury still out on the injector harness), so theoretically you shouldn't have a misfire. The injectors make a distinct clicking sound when firing. Take a stethoscope (or long screwdriver you can get your ear on...

Replacement motor questions but hopefully fixable

Exhaust leaks can sound like a lifter tapping. Not the cause of your misfire if it is, but it could be where the sound is coming from. You might check to make sure all your exhaust manifold fasteners are still there and check closely for exhaust leaks.

Replacement motor questions but hopefully fixable

Yes, you could still have a collapsed AFM lifter (#4 is an AFM lifter). The sure way is to pull the valve cover and inspect the #4 rockers. If they are both straight and one is not loose, you probably don't have an AFM lifter issue. Turn the engine over and watch to see if the rockers on #4...

07 Suburban rough idle P0304 code afm delete

If you are smelling gas after shutdown and a flood clear helps with the hot starts, it certainly would support the notion that something is allowing fuel to get into the intake and flooding it after shutdown. If you have a fuel pressure gauge, maybe hook it to the Schader valve, run the engine...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

The AFM deflector will be there as well.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I have the whole shop manual chapter on window diagnostics in PDF (including all the stuff JF just posted, diagrams, etc.), I can send you if that will be helpful?

Do you mean it is on when everything is shut down and the other lights have timed out?

Tech 2 arrived today, hopefully resolved my high alcohol %

What actual percentage of Ethanol were you using versus what your virtual sensor said it had in the tank?

Keeping coolant and transmission temps under control when towing in the summer heat

So I am just guessing here, but I would say the 700W fans draw about 40% more current than the 500W...

    Nicks on new rotors

Some people pay for such things (albeit in a little less random pattern), will work fine. On the other hand, when I buy something new, I want it to be blemish free unless I get a discount for buying blemished goods. Also, just me, but if I got something like that and decided the hassle to...

07 Suburban rough idle P0304 code afm delete

I think a leaky injector (especially given you tested them) is probably a long shot, just trying to figure the gas smell. You might try a flood clear procedure when you are about to restart when hot. If it fires right up after a short flood clear, you know something is causing a lot of gas to...

I would think you would be getting a code for a bad purge selonoid or vent valve. Maybe an injector leaking?

Maybe consider an inexpensive borescope to see if you can determine if the valves in number 1 are actually banging? You may be able to rent one pretty cheaply or buy a cheap one on eBay. I like the ones that come with an LED on the camera end, helps illuminate dark places. Maybe a quick and...

Service Stability track and traction control

I agree with the above. In addition, lots of things trigger the TC/ST off status. Something as simple as brake fluid being too low in the MC will trigger such notices (although you would also get the brake warning light as well in that case), but the point is, many things trigger this, most...
