No i dont have VVT mine is a LC9 Went back with the Melling I will have to look part number up, but I know low op effected CAM bearings when pump failed. I have low OP now but, it does have some lol . 40cold 15 hot running 15w-50 Till I find a block and do a total build it is what it is. But I don't think that should have anything to do with the hot long crank issue. I like you, was hoping to just have a reliable DD and occaisional TT puller.
Got it, my mistake.

So smelling gas at shut off indicates the casnister vent is working correct? is the there a way to test the purge solenoid?

If you smell gas at shutoff it would be wise to investigate the source. It could be something other than the canister vent valve opening up.

You can test the purge valve by performing an evap purge & seal test, which forces the vent valve closed, theoretically closing the system, and opens the purge valve to apply engine vacuum to the system. When the "seal" part of the test is activated, the system is closed. The decay of the applied vacuum is monitored using the fuel tank pressure; the slower decay the better, indicating that the purge and evap valves and the evap lines are sealed.

Eric O at the South Main Auto YouTube channel has several videos on evap systems, specifically on testing the purge valve. But it's only part of the evap system.

EDIT: or the Wells site:

Just checked with tuner/mechanic, and he said he ran an evap purge test on it and it tested good.

So decided to try something, at the time of the "normal" hot long crank. Held pedal to floor to shut off fuel then turned key to start, it stubles some but starts quicker ecah time. Injectors? Or may something in tune still?

If you are smelling gas after shutdown and a flood clear helps with the hot starts, it certainly would support the notion that something is allowing fuel to get into the intake and flooding it after shutdown.

If you have a fuel pressure gauge, maybe hook it to the Schader valve, run the engine and then after shutdown and if the rail is keeping pressure. If it bleeds off quickly, it could be a leaky injector.

Well feel good didn't last long, truck died pulling out of parking, just like you turned key off. Not a rattle, bag, thud, nothing. Hit the key it spins over like a starter with stuck bendix. However the engine is spinning over. No compression on 1,2,4 didn't check others. Pulled front down it is in time. This is a first for me. How can you loose compression all at once silently? Would love input, from everyone. I will be pulling it i suppose and going through it. It.is our primary family ride.
