Ford has the PowerBoost hybrid available on the F150 first available in 2020. Some believe it will be an option on the 2022 Navigator. Something like 25 mpg combined with 700 mile range.
Emission standards have auto makers doing all kinds of tricks to meet them. Government edicts and auto...
Neither am I but it's hard to ignore the elephant in the room. I would think a hybrid would be a good solution for these large suvs and wonder why GM hasn't adopted it. It seems to me to be the efficient solution for power and economy. Is it marketing the V8 sound or not wanting to compromise...
What is it about the way GM does it might be damaging to the engine? I can understand that a hybrid design could be more accommodating. In the end government mandates are increasingly handicapping gas engines intentionally so that EVs can compete and the added complexity is to blame for some of...
I just keep reminding myself how enjoyable $125 plates are while watching my earmarked funds go up with the market. Besides I'd like to see what they do to the Navigator as I kind of prefer the styling. Everyone's situation is different but for me I choose to keep my options open for the moment...
So how did we get here, indiscriminate buying? It looks like GM will use any component they can get on these high profit vehicles and people continue clamoring for them. For GM there is no downside.
I test drove one of these back in March - very nice especially the interior. I was waiting for super cruise but keep changing my mind so decided to wait till next year. Keep us posted.
Just looked at this build and I was thinking the Super Cruise was $2000 but it is now $2500, or am I mistaken...
I don't think these are genuine leather but are a bonded leather product though it's hard to tell from the descriptions exactly what it is. It's the same with most wood trims found in automobiles and even if the say real wood the only way I'd believe it is to drill a hole in one.
But back to...
I agree it appears the dealer doesn't have the resources to properly diagnose this and is just kicking the can down the road. Hope a technician can chime in and describe the trouble shooting process to diagnose this so the owner can present it to the dealer. Dealers, they're the worst.
Regulatory credits are tax incentives are subsidies. But once again it only matters because you made the claim so go with it.
We don't have to funnel money to an egotistical billionaire to invest in this technology do we? Is that the only way to advance technology? No it isn't, the best way is...
Oy, not again.
Tesla collected $1.6 billion in regulatory credits in 2020 alone otherwise Tesla would never have turned a profit - ever. Tesla exists because of government tax subsidies and will for the foreseeable future. As soon as Biden can he will shove a $100 billion rebate program through...
Well no not quite true, Tesla has never been the top selling EV and is conflating their sales numbers in China by counting all cars produced in Shanghai while most are exported. Officially Tesla only reports world sales by quarter so they can get away with this. It's all in the link I provided...
Wow, more bad news for Tesla, huh. Though from the article I related it appears Tesla has trailed BYD Co. all along as now we know Tesla is exporting most of the cars they make in Shanghai.
Perhaps you would like to discuss your contention that ICE was subsidized in the beginning?
Au contraire mon frère, Tesla likes to keep those numbers hidden from investors as much as possible so only reports quarterly world wide sales.
"The EV maker sold 11,671 locally built Model 3 and Model Y cars in China last month, while exporting a further 14,174, according to the China...
Well there's the problem. We have a choice when it comes to throwing money at a mature practical ICE based automobile that will serve 100% of the people 100% of the time but we have no choice in subsidizing an EV that serves the top 20% of earners 80% of the time.
Speaking of Tesla I just read...
And as I've said all along... EVs might be coming but they're not ready. Meanwhile we subsidize Tesla to give us poor quality automobiles costing more than our comparable but better quality gas powered cars. And we should enjoy this?
If you say we agree, well alright but we diverge when it comes to pushing technology to market in lieu of further developing that technology and waiting till it is feasible. It's a bit difficult to ascertain your stance when it wavers considerably.
As far as that last link it mostly affirms...
By most estimates we have 50 years of usable oil reserves but that keeps increasing not decreasing. Our current administration is reducing that by restricting oil leases on government land and nixing projects such as the Keystone XL thereby reducing the amount of oil transferable from our...
I am very sorry you feel this way I was attempting to raise the level of our discussion beyond hyperbole by providing credible reasons for why I don't believe the technology is ready for huge government outlays. Not to say that it won't ever be capable of a sustainable transition. But... when it...
