How much are you asking for each of them? Thx

    Oil Leak

I thought that 5.8 was the one they made off that ultra rare early LS block with the 4.8/5.3/6.0 cast into it, because it's capable to be built any displacement? Anyone seen one of these in person and know what vehicle it was originally in?

2006 L59 5.3 Flex Fuel Rail vs. TBSS/NNBS Fuel Rail & L59 Injectors vs. NNBS Injectors

I recently saw a 2006 Suburban w/ L59 5.3 engine and I noticed the fuel rails looked a lot like the fuel rails that are on a TBSS/NNBS intake manifold. Both were the SS box type rail. Anyone know if these are the same fuel rail? I have a NNBS intake for future use, but it has no fuel rails...

Thinking about purchasing a 00-06 Tahoe.

We will have to agree to disagree here. I believe, like many others do, that changing ALL of the trans fluid on a used, higher mileage transmission is a bad idea. By changing a smaller portion, I am adding many additives by way of the new fluid, that are depleted in the old, original trans...

Thinking about purchasing a 00-06 Tahoe.

I didn't buy anything.....Not sure if anyone bought anything in this thread. Your message is non sequitur I suppose. I didn't. Might go back and read what I wrote about 3.5 qt. Thanks for clearing up the total capacity for BG1988

Mine has not leaked one drop from the trans pan drain plug. YMMV.... I personally think a trans pan drain plug is a great improvement and understand it's usefulness.

Thinking about purchasing a 00-06 Tahoe.

How many quarts does a 00-06 SUV 4L60 hold? Do you know? I will continue on my 'wasteful' ways as it has served me well. The proof is in the pudding, err....mileage. ;)

Thinking about purchasing a 00-06 Tahoe.

If you're able to get the plug out, it's about 3.5 quarts of fluid swap.

Thinking about purchasing a 00-06 Tahoe.

Ahhh yes.....you just reminded me about how fun that was. Yeah the first time coming out, that plug was a "female dog" and fought me tooth and nail. It rounded off like a mofo but I wasn't going to let it beat me. Mistakenly I started with a 12 point 15mm socket first which started the...

Thinking about purchasing a 00-06 Tahoe.

I bought it from someone I knew(original owner) and have all the service records. He even kept the window sticker with the records. He babied it and took excellent care of it. Most of the time his wife and daughter drove it. I do think the regular interval trans service I've done since...

Thinking about purchasing a 00-06 Tahoe.

Never say never, and I'll knock on wood. ;) I'm at 317k original factory trans in my 04 Z71 Tahoe. I've towed a 21' speed boat to the river numerous times, along with a flatbed trailer with Polaris Rzr or a long travel dune buggy to the desert in the 6 years I've owned this Tahoe. I've...

6.0 conversion questions & Socal machine shop recommendation

I should be good for a little extra with injectors. Tahoe is a Z code L59 engine.

Are those the ones that are showing in the picture you posted that look like an L shape round rod after the cats?

6.0 conversion questions & Socal machine shop recommendation

Thanks for the picture. You are right, I guess it's not a Y pipe but instead 2 individual pipes that go into the muffler. Anyone already BTDT and found that these will bolt into a 5.3/4.8 Tahoe? Are the mounts the same or is there re-engineering involved in swapping to the factory 6.0...

6.0 conversion questions & Socal machine shop recommendation

Thank you. Definitely not going boosted, just building a healthy 6.0 and calling it a day. It will be better than the factory 5.3 that is worn out, and hopefully last 300k+ like my 5.3 did.

6.0 conversion questions & Socal machine shop recommendation

Thank you. Definitely going to have the heads done prior to install. Multi angle valve job, bowl blend, surface & check for flatness. I will add having the machinist checking chamber CC to the list.

6.0 conversion questions & Socal machine shop recommendation

Thanks for the recommendation on the cam. I will check that out. Yeah, 243's with flat tops are definitely out as an option. I was thinking either lq4 bottom end with 243's or lq9 bottom end with 317's so the CR stays reasonable, around 10 -ish. Since first posting this thread a few months...

6.0 conversion questions & Socal machine shop recommendation

Oh yeah, there are too many choices of camshaft. I'm tempted to just run the factory cam since I have it, but it sounds like a 6.0 benefits from a cam swap. Tahoe is my daily driver (run 87 mostly) and tow vehicle for the boat and dune buggy, so top end is not what I need. Any BTDT cam...

6.0 conversion questions & Socal machine shop recommendation

Finally got around to posting an update here. Parts back from the machine shop and done. Block went to 020 and crank polished up. Now to order pistons, parts and decide if it's going back together as an lq4 with dished pistons or an lq9 with flat tops. i have a pair of 317 heads and also a...

Air bubbles in the coolant reservoir

Yeah, I didn't believe it to be related in my case, but it proved otherwise. I would keep in mind though that a water compromised engine is a ticking time bomb longevity wise. That's why I went with a 6.0 replacement.
