    Oil pressure switch, screen?

Mine is now at the engine rebuilder... $2,200 turn key job, bore, new pistons, align bore cam... seems like a bargain. He is also gonna replace any wore out front suspention parts while it is easy to get to them... I know my idle arm and pitman are wore out.

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

Also, mine dropped overnight from 40-60psi, to 10-20 psi... no slow drop, bam.

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

I did keep driving mine for a week or so, til the pressure dropped more, alarms went off, and now I have one lifter ticking.... I am told that is a very good sign that a cam bearing has spun, one lifter is not getting oiled... So, I am now scared of really damaging it if I keep driving it...

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

Well, I have found a guy near me, that all he does is rebuild chevy motors... He will bore it out .020" (likely due to mileage) and rebuild mine for $2,200. Turnkey, drop it off, pick it up done, and warranty.... I know a guy that has 20,000 on one he rebuilt and he is very happy.... Seems like...

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

I still have my 1990 Trooper I bought in 1990.... Still runs... I'll keep her as long as she is ok.... The rest of her is in real good shape, never wrecked, never painted, so....

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

Yes, it would have to be totally tore down, and line bored with oversize bearings... I am thinking reman remanufactured long block is my best bet.... or just swap it with a junkyard engine, but the extra $1200 for a remanufactured seems like the better investment.

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

Yes, I have used lucas with success on a wore out V6 2.8 chevy motor in my 1990 Isuzu Trooper, brought it up 10 psi, got me by a while... she was quitting at red lights due to low oil pressure....

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

We were really expecting a bad Oring.... but it really looked just fine, not brittle, no cracks....

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

Well, this happened, bam, overnight, one days 40-60 psi, next day 10. The original O ring looked fine... so we went on and did the oil pump too... put it all back together, and no change... and a little metal in the pan... So bad as I hate to, I reckon it is long block time, $2700, and probably...

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

I have a friend that does LS swaps often... I called him and talked about my truck. I told him I replaced the O ring and the oil pump and still have no oil pressure, he said "spun a camshaft bearing". He said they are know for spinning the center bearing and they stick to the camshaft and spin...

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

IF it spun a bearing, wouldn't that happen slowly? Wouldn't it have reasonable oil pressure at startup and slowly decrease as it warmed up?

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

My mechanic just finished putting in a new oil pump, and says no change, still very very low oil pressure... WTF, I am now $800 into this... New o ring, new pan gasket, new oil pump, filter, oil and sending unit... now I have a slight valve tick happening too (I assume from low oil up top)...

Thanks snow drifter, I will look closer at that, really didn't even notice....

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

OK, I am not finding any information on this, but it has me curious as there was some oil pan gasket leak going on....

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

OK, dropped the oil pan. The pickup tube O ring looks just fine. Some sludge, but not much in the pan. The pickup tube is not clogged at all. Really, everything there looks ok for 190,000. So? It MUST be the oil pump? What else COULD it be? Either high pressure relief valve stuck open, or pump...

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

Did you grind off the tab and use the other bolt hole on the pickup tube? That looks to be the best idea....

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

Were you able to fit a air torque wrench in there without removing the radiator, or does it need to come out? Thanks for the info!!

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

Sure, link me to it, I guess a new oil pump is in order, I have watched a couple YT vids on it, seems easy enough, hard part is harmonic balances, and if I break the damn bolt.... and the screw for the pickup tube, I guess fishing line and a magnet are the answer there.... While I have her...

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

I got her as full of oil as I could, and still feel it was ok to drive, found the steepest hill I could find, and it made no difference at all.... My gut at this point is, that the pressure relief valve is stuck, or the oil pump broke a tooth or something, but I have put about 100 miles on it...

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

While I agree the new oil sending unit does not guarantee it, but since the new and the old read almost identical, that's a pretty sure indication it is NOT a sending unit problem... broken gear in the oil pump is an idea I have not thought of as a reason it happened suddenly... I'm thinking...

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

After further reading here: https://www.motor.com/magazine-summary/trouble-shooter-jan-2017-low-oil-pressure-vortec/ I am convinced my oil pump pressure relief valve is stuck open... recent cold startup, high rev to warm her up fast, pressure hit 70, relief valve opened and stuck.... Sooooo, any...

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

I have searched and can find no definite answer... Does the 03 Denali 6.0 have a filter under the oil pressure sending unit....? My oil pressure has been fine, idle at 40 psi, 60 psi under acceleration. One day about a week ago, suddenly oil pressure down to 10 psi idle and 20 under...
