Yeah, I had some issues with the set I have on mine right now, I just plastic welded some bracing in there and added some SS mesh in others to strengthen it up.
Every time I build something, I give it some love taps to make sure it holds up to those massive potholes you never see until it's...
Question: Are you able to take a measurement for me? Looking to find out what the grille height is from between these two arrows, where the grille meets the fender... This is for an ongoing project I'm working on, but no Yukon/Sierra nearby to do the measuring myself.
Right, so I have the driver side fender cut up... just need two more slits and I can start shaping it and mount it up.
Then I will shape the new fender over the fuggered, yet structurally sound fender to push it out for clearance and do my plastic welding thing.
I have to do some shaping to...
Pt in several hours yesterday as d came out with something i can be happy with. All this got an additional 1.5 inches of clearance and coverage. And it's barely noticeably lol
They look very good. I looked and looked for a set of these for a long time when I had the old blue truck... could never find them.
Now I'm on the hunt for a single one that isn't in great shape (chrome cladding wise)...
And alas, that didn't last long. Fiberglass pulled up from the flare, though no surprise. I found a full set for a silverado on ebay for cheap (100 below what I ws wired to replace the front two) so now im going to try another method to get these built, going back to my plastic roots.
Intake, exhaust and a tune. Nothing terribly drastic due to the 4l60e and not wanting to have to replace it yet. Since i plan to keep this, I'll probably wind up swapping to a 4l80 and dropping in a turbo with supporting mods for 4-500 hp... nothing drastic, just fun. Would love to turn this...
They are mounted with some strong foam, I used a wood block and a 4lb sledge on the back to get it to come off.
And more work was done today with some very good results.
This thing looks fucking mean in person. Wider wheels and the yukon headlights will give a very pissed off look to it...
yeah, he told me he hit a curb... I asked how big and how fast. Tires sidewall is gouged up and that's the lip sitting on it. Thought I might be able to get it repaired until I inspected it....
you have the minimum flare, but is that really what you want in life?
And more of this itch dust spread throughout my workspace. So far it looks spiffy.
Im schemering... can someone with a NBS Yukon/Denali measure the width of their grill between the headlights? Picture shows what I need... basically the distance between the two outsides of the top upright sections.
Welp... based on my having to trim the fender to work, and needing to build this thing into the correct fender, I pulled the trigger on a set of yukon fenders. They will be here friday.
I will have to clearance them out, then start working the fender to make it look right...
But never the...
And I need to replace the flare.
Not that it's fuked up entirely, but that it's too low for my tire setup. I need to honetly be running a 295, not a 305.
I hit when turning now, so this will be an interesting drive tomorrow. hoping I can just get a replacement pair (though I cannot find...
@ArcticYukon I'd end up building the headlight I'm sure, but now I have to source a free (or really cheap though not functional but mountable) set of headlights for test fitting (dont want to spend the money if it fails miserably) ... once I make sure o can use the headlights, then i have to...
So I have been planning... lots.
I'll be altering the flares more, but I have a rough stance diagnosed in fir the rear. Installed the Spohn adjustable sway bar. Then I replaced the front brakes with powerstop tow and hall rotors/pads. Now the wobble is gone so that's big.
Next idea...
@HiHoeSilver For the rear I'm running 2.25" spacers in the back... so a 24x10 with a -30 offset would fit...
More math would be needed to do other sizes lol.
