I'd imagine that it would take tacking/mounting in place, then precisely cutting along the door edge/line. From there it would just take filling the gap between the current body and the new outer skin and handle relocation...
Yeah, I am very leery of running a duraflex or fiberglass front bumper. Hood, I'm cool with that, just not the bumper due to the proximity it has to the ground and bouncing debris...
And I have an idea how to make something that still looks stock but will accentuate the track width I have up...
There's one on eBay now. https://m.ebay.com/itm/1999-2000-2001-2002-Chevrolet-Silverado-HD-Front-Bumper-Cover-Body-Kit/192552863174?hash=item2cd50b85c6:g:e4kAAOSwSzdXCGlp
However, ill probably just do what everyone else does and paint the hd cap and bumper for now. I also plan to keep the one...
Oh, and a biiig woopty do...
Insurance came through and they are going to replace the front bumper all together. So' now I need to source a new cap and bumper, though I am thinking I just want to run a bumper cover. Unfortunately, looks like the only thing I am finding for the HD is a...
Need to get the rest together lol... I'm pretty happy with this.
Nevermind that switch plate, I have to find another wood grain one and paint it lol. Forgot all about that until I was to deep in all this.
And I still have to do the stripe as well as finish installing the three doors as well...
Finally found the post with the sub wiring. Woot woot. Now I'm able to finish this interior. Thank you for posting. And this may be an old thread but who knows right now.
Thanks for the tip on using denatured alcohol, worked like a charm and now everything is prepped to be painted. @Rocket Man
And my paint arrived. :woot
However, instead of painting, I decided to help my wife finish her (my) DIY project of converting and old crib into a deck chair as well as...
Two cans will be plenty for the dash. I used had one for the dash and got the coverage i needed for a color change.
Hell, speaking of, I need to find out where my paint is. Ordered it a week ago to finissh the rest of my interior and I still don't have it.
I used the stuff from AutoZone. Hit it with two layers and then followed with a ton of light coats to get the color I wanted. Unfortunately, SEM paint won't lay on thick for a good coat, at least it didn't for me.
I wouldn't use dip unless you planned on it being temporary personally. It's not designed to be permanent.
However, I can see it being good since it will fill some small cuts and gouges in the plastics....
Only issue I have now is that there isn't anything to "touch up" areas that may need...
cleaned everything with mineral spirits, hit it with some adhesion promoter, then sprayed a ton of light coats of SEM Classic Coats. Currently waiting on another 4 cans of the dark brown and one can of the tan to show up to finish off the side and door panels.
Also need to sand the rubber...
I did...i did.
And I'm back from the family vacation and tomorrow night being time to spray done different colors...
Still have to find the thread where the guy wired up the stock Bose subwoofer to an aftermarket amplifier though.
Anyway, I decided that I needed to do a better break than...
I did. Used Rit frin walmart. It's much more of a coffee/ chocolate brown color than the photos suggest.
But it looks new now. Not bad for 14 years old.
