Out with the Old and in with the New....well rebuilt

Looks great! I'll be here for the updates. You should be very glad you went this route rather than a LT1/10L90!

What else should I do while I've got my dash removed?

I recommend replacing the ambient light sensor while you have the dash apart. It's very difficult to do otherwise, and they definitely degrade over time.

160 thermo. Heat spike at 107° weather.

Understood. I was referring the the OP's statement "Is it because the 160 thermo is not closing and keeps the coolant circulating? If I swap for the 187 it should keep the coolant longer in the radiator right?" And yes the restrictor, since flow in that small hoses bypasses the thermostat...

160 thermo. Heat spike at 107° weather.

Correct on all counts. And the theory repeated by many, about wanting to restrict flow rate through the radiator to give it more time in the radiator to cool, is complete BS. See the Tech tip #3 on the Stewart Water pump website: http://www.stewartwaterpumps.com/ For the OP, If you...

2007 GMC Denali stalls after towing

" 2008, when I tow I constantly watch my torque app which has oil pressure and temperature. When cruising, pressure stays around 38 to 40 PSI, when idling it stays anywhere between 15 to 20. Oil temperature was running usually between 230 to 240." 15-20 psi hot idle is too low, this makes it...

2007 GMC Denali stalls after towing

What vehicle do you have? 2007-2008 6.2L? If so, no sure solution, since there are a number of potential causes ... but the low hot oil pressure/VVT problem is probably the cause 80% of the time. So the very first thing you should do is check what your oil pressure is at idle, when the...

Keeping coolant and transmission temps under control when towing in the summer heat

A lot of the heat generated in the transmission is from the Torque converter. What about having your tuner reprogram it to fully lock up the torque coverter, and keep it locked up, when you have it in Tow/Haul mode? I read that GM also has some kind of intentional % slip, when it is...

    2003 Yukon XL A/C Issue

Recommendations: funny, I just posted this in another forum area: The Fans draw serious power. You have to run relays under the hood, to power them. And the hot wire that is being fed to the contacts of those relays has to come directly from the battery, or alternator (preferably with a big...

    Electric Fan swap causing problems

The Fans draw serious power. You have to run relays under the hood, to power the fans. And the hot wire that is being fed to the contacts of those relays has to come directly from the battery, or alternator (preferably with a big fuse in-line). Learnings from having done this conversion on...

    2003 Yukon XL A/C Issue

Certainly could be the fan clutch. I converted a pickup from clutch fan to efans, and the AC cooling at idle is dramatically improved. You can even put in a manual switch to run the fans on high, anytime that you want to.

    Serpentine Belt Tensioner

I used to think Gates was good as well. I got a new POS Gates tensioner last year. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Had to throw it out and buy an ACDelco 2 bolt one. Bought a number of Gates hoses that appeared to be crap quality as well, and went back and purchased OEM GM EPDM hoses...

Ideas on what else to replace while doing oil pan gasket

Good info. Do you have any more details about this. OK with AFM activation disabled, but AFM hardware still in the engine?

    Possible e85problems?

I think the ultimate is to have an e85 capable vehicle (for the extra ethanol resistance of all the fuel system components, and extra flow capacity), and then not use e85. :)

    Will These Be OK?

Yes, they do, and they look great. Note that the offset is slightly different, so they stick out 7mm (0.28 inch) further than a factory 22 for a GMT900 SUV.

    07 tahoe ly6 swap and 6l80

Since you are already serious to the point of swapping and engine & trans ... why not just sell your tahoe and get a Yukon Denali or Escalade that already has the 6L80 to start. You could also get an AWD version of one of those, so you are not just spinning your tires with that 500 hp.

    07 tahoe ly6 swap and 6l80

How would you plan on handling the serious electronic control changes needed to adapt the 6L80 into your chassis? Unless someone makes a stand alone controller for the 6L80 now, that's going to be a serious challenge.

    tahoe no oil pressure

When you say "filled from the side," Do you mean that you did the required priming procedure by feeding pressurized oil into that port?

    AWD help

On an 07-14 Denali, the AWD transfer case is a straight planetary differential with a 40% Front, 60% Rear torque split. No clutches, no viscous coupling, no locking. Always 40/60 torque split. So simliar to a rear wheel drive vehicle with an open differential, if one wheel is spinning...

"Safe" years for afm/stabilitrack/etc on the 6.2?

I don't recommend buying any LS engine with AFM. Therefore that caps it at 2009 for the 6.2s. By 2009 they solved alot of the issues from 2007-2008. So in my mind, the 2009 is the best option.

Dorman vs. OEM GM coolant "T's"

Here are the Tee elimination pics. The first one shows the 3/4 to 5/8 metal hose adapter connections. The second one shows the 3/4 inch hose connections to the heater core. One clamp on each side of the flange bulge of the aluminum heater core tubing. This ensures that it will both seal...

Dorman vs. OEM GM coolant "T's"

I got rid to the "Tees" entirely and eliminated this failure point. I don't need the rear heat, and I'm enjoying loads of extra engine room, and easy access to the rear plug & wire. I also don't have to worry about the rear plastic fittings failing either. I took a length of 3/4 inch heater...
