False positive on the cleaning MAF and MAP, drove quite a bit today and same old shaking flutter trembling is as bad as before. Not sure why it was better for a brief period but cleaning did not help.
No kidding, I will clean TB at this point by taking it off the truck. I bought new gasket for TB as well just in case. This Gen V are Throttle by Wire, so I will be the guinea pig for this forum. Maybe I should do a video to recoup some of the money I wasted trying to fix this truck while it is...
I have idle raised all the way to 650 now but skipping/miss is still there when engine is fully hot. It is a bit worse on Exxon 89 but my truck seems to like BP 89 or BJ's 93 best. This is not scientific at all, just what I feel. Throttle body clean seems to be the natural exploration but dealer...
I did pay because they told me that in absence of codes they have nothing to repair under warranty, shaking is within spec per GM, less than 2 gram on a Picoscope. Bottle test is proving nothing to them. I took to Arbitrage and lost, per arbitrator vibrations are not dangerous and truck did not...
I want to attempt throttle body clean but since this is drive by wire Gen V, horror stories are all over the Web. There are no how-tos for Gen V DI engines to clean TB and re-learn idle position. I suspect nobody in the right mind needs to clean the TB on the Gen V trucks but since I am doing...
I see, thank you.
throttle body was cleaned with CRC DI engine throttle body cleaner following their process 4K miles ago, it looked clean before cleaning but I still cleaned since CRC explicitly states does not void manufacturer's warranty.
As for injection cleaning, I only did in-tank...
Thank you, here are the answers:
1) The top graph smoother curves was at driving speeds (driving 1800+ RPMs) with the a/c on. The bottom graph was still in D but stop (±500 RPMs) at the traffic light. In Park is about the same - not smooth. Same behavior with a/c on and off.
2) What does RPM do...
I have done a bit more highway driving and then ran the engine at the traffic light stop in D with AC off (did not take the belt off, just turned off the AC) and the vibrations/flutter was still there, maybe to a lesser degree but certainly did not stop when I turned AC off.
Harmonic balancer...
I think vibration was less during the cold season with AC off. Now that heat is here it is prominent. Is there a way to test the AC load and clutch? Could electrical AC fans cause vibrations if they are out of balance?
Thank you, I read a bit on the harmonic balancers and I still claim weak understanding but harmonic balance vibrations are felt as RPM increase and disappear in idle, can balancer still cause issues in idle?
Yes, depreciation hit due to COVID on these trucks is so huge that I am considering options to pay for more troubleshooting, in the past 8 months since purchase truck lost $12K value and it is only with 5K miles added. Bottle test got even worse now. Thing is that I cannot find a shop in North...
Yes, sadly gotten all the way to the Arbitration. General Motors of 2019-20 has their priorities wrong, instead of increasing Cost of Poor Quality budget to fight defects, they spend their money on lawyers and agents to fight with their customers. This is Mary Barra's strategy of customer care -...
Blackbear guys were very helpful in analyzing the logs with me for the rough idle. They are A-class experts on GM motors and all analytics points that my ever persisting rough idle condition on 2018 Yukon is likely not ignition or fuel related thus no codes and very good reading in the logs...
Thank you, very interesting to sample. BlackBear guys told me that 5.3 are so smooth these days, one should look at the tach to see if it is running, that was BlackBear's take on smooth. Justin has taken a look at the logs of my truck and plotted them. He registers issues on the plots but unsure...
Some of you may know me already ;) I am still riding the 2018 Yukon with rough idle. I need a good truck that has 3 rows and can pull a decent size camper and get off the pavement. The good tug is hard to get these days. 2020 Tahoes are sold for very good price now since everyone wants T1s...
