Got started a little later than I wanted - long week at work, slept in for a change. Did not get as far as I wanted, but my better half wanted to go out to eat. But I did accomplish this:

Thank you for the kind words. I still miss my little Spunky. He was my companion and my buddy. They are such a part of the family and your heart. Life has definitely slowed this build down. As far as my removal and install - going slowly but steady progress.
No kidding. This evening, I put my hood in the vertical position for my removal and install . OK, almost vertical. Tear down begins tomorrow, More picture to follow.
And so it will begin (yes, I know I'm well behind my desires on a start date (life gets in the way sometimes) . Friday I start the removal and installation of my 6.0+ engine. Took the next two weeks off to get this done among a few other changes and upgrades. Photos and status updates to follow.
I want to say yes you are correct, but I'm not as familiar with the 04 setup.

This could be a reach, but it looks like you installed the gasket in the tank and then tried to install the pump. You should place the gasket on the fuel pump and then install the assembly into the tank. Can I see a picture of the retaining ring?
