Replacing those switches are a true test of patience and can enhance your vocabulary.

    Highbeam symbol

Sounds like they swapped the wiring. I use standard bulbs and don't drive at night with sunglasses. The best modification on these trucks for lighting is to install a relay so all 4 lights are on when you engage the high beams. It's a simple mod requires 1 Bosch style relay and a little skill.

Common problem with wipers is the circuit board under the black cover on the wiper motor.

    AC compressor not engaging

Does the compressor have power and ground when it doesn't "kick in"? No power and ground and no compressor will kick in. If you do have power and ground you might have a bad clutch which a new compressor would come with a clutch.

    AC Cooling

Do you have a heater control valve on the heater hose? Is it working? You can install a manual valve and shut the flow to the heater core, makes it colder in the cab.

97 Tahoe cruise control unexpected disengaging - SOLVED

The switch is a pain to swap, hooking a test light up is simple. On my K2500 I found a terminal by the fuse block that had brake lamp power, easy to access.

97 Tahoe cruise control unexpected disengaging - SOLVED

Brake light switch is a lot cheaper. I'd try and hook a test light of some sort to the brake light circuit and monitor it when driving. A scan tool will show you that also if you have one that reads live data. Turn signal switches are known to fail also.

    A/C Compressor making noise 97 Tahoe 5.7 L

Along with the compressor and orifice you should replace the accumulator. If you buy a kit it will come with it.

    A/C Compressor making noise 97 Tahoe 5.7 L

You spun the pulley which rides on the bearing but it had no load on the bearing. As I said good chance your compressor needs replacing. When the hose was replaced did they replace the orifice tube? That should have been done and if it had trash on it that would have been a sign of the...

    A/C Compressor making noise 97 Tahoe 5.7 L

Only part of the clutch mechanism that could or would make noise is the bearing that the clutch pulley rides on. Much more common for the compressor to fail and or leak or both. Every truck I've owned and many I've worked on have had the compressor replaced. Best deal I've seen is the whole kit...

    HELP rod knocking

WOW! This is like a trip down memory lane back when I was young. I had a rod bearing spin and didn't have money for more than a patch repair. I polished the crank with fine emery cloth and tried an oversized bearing which was too tight. I used a standard bearing and ran the rod cap across a file...

    Volt gauge disparity

You're 65, bet you can't do what you did when you were 20. That dash volt indicator is 25, bet it can't do what it did when it was new. Between dust and wear and the fact that it's a mass produced indicator be grateful it still indicates. The dash gauges receive voltage through the fuse panel...

    Transmission Hops when hot

Have it scanned for codes, common for the problem Nick mentioned. I have done a fix with the Fitzall kit that changes TCC from pulse width modulated to just on/off TCC. I've also had one that had been fixed with the Sonnax kit but it needed a new torque converter. The Lubegard might buy some...

    1999 tahoe brake issue

Let's just do something really simple. Buy 2 plugs for the master cylinder, remove the lines and put the plus in. If the pedal is hard the MC is bled and good, if it's spongy the problem is in the MC. I have bled these brakes every possible way and never had a problem getting a pedal. Rarely...

Security light issue.. all advice appreciated - SOLVED

The security generally doesn't make the truck shut off while running, don't see how it could. It's designed to stop all of us from stealing our own trucks. Mine has done it and it only gives you the attempt to start and die with the solid light. Shut everything off and then turn the key on and...
