    Who’s dealt with Asia Motors?

Chicago Motors, Asia Motors, and Motorsource all bring in lots of old police vehicles. I was looking at a 3/4 ton from there. Almost bought plane tickets but then the one I ended up buying popped up in San Antonio. Called them and they seemed legit. They're choosy about the vehicles they bring...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

AC Delco rotors and pads, KYB MonoMax shocks, indicator bulb. The factory originals were warped, cracked from heat, leaking/sticking, and burned out, respectively, just shy of 5 years or 100k miles. The new shocks let me regain an inch or two of ride height in the front!

    4WD or AWD

No transfer case -> 2WD. Transfer case with a clutch to enable/disable drive to front wheels -> 4WD. Transfer case with no clutch that always sends torque to front wheels -> AWD. Transfer cases with clutches can have a single speed (4WD), or have the ability to shift between two speeds (4WD LO...

    Deleting autoride

If you have auto leveling don't forget coil springs in the back. For about $80 you can get manual fill airbags if you want to keep your ride level with your trailer in tow. Everyone likes different shocks, I like KYB Monomax. Good luck!

Cell phone mounts, who uses what?

Macally DMOUNT on my 2013 GMC Yukon XL 2500. I have four cupholders in the center console. So, I had to use a low profile USB power adaptor and a right angle adaptor to get the cables to not hit water bottles in the console. There is a suction cup on the dashboard, and an arm with a rubber foot...

Coming from 5 ford truck over to Chevy is the a better yr on the 6.2 is new generation better or wor

This exactly. It took me ages to figure out my simple standards for vehicles: No leaks. No odors. Not hard to describe, but it discredits many used vehicles out there.

Cell phone mounts, who uses what?

Here's the solution on my 2001 Denali. The holder is glued with mounting tape to the dashboard trim. Behind it is the factory OnStar system. It's analog based, and I've uninstalled the antenna for it, so it cannot possibly work. This is about the cleanest install I've seen.

Indiana penalty for having a Hybrid

Sorry if I was misunderstood. My question should have been phrased: "if there is a $50 fee in Indiana to register a hybrid car, is there also a fee for a pure electric car?" The answer is: "yes, there is a fee, and it is $100, not $50". I thought this was just Indiana, but no, there are a whole...

Indiana penalty for having a Hybrid

How do electric vehicles factor into this? Do the boneheads who make the laws in Indiana even realize that not all automobiles run on fossil fuels? Did they figure that people who live close to the border could just register their cars in a neighboring state?

Just listed my 2001 Denali for sale in the Classifieds. This weekend I'll post a bit more about the new truck!

It needs more love than I'm able to give it at the moment. It's already been superseded by my new 2013...

Exhaust/oil odor, LSD chatter on my 2001 LQ4 Denali - Help!

Oil pan gasket leak. The smell - and knowing the root cause - had been bugging me for long enough that I pulled the Denali off the consignment sale lot and brought it home for inspection. I got video of a cold start after a full week of sitting still. Two videos, in fact. One from the center...

2013 GMC Yukon XL 2500 - moving up from 2001 GMC Yukon XL Denali

Hmm. In retrospect then maybe it's better that I didn't go for a used 6.2L. If it's been knocking for 100k miles that can't be good for the engine. I hope GM designed their timings so at least this wouldn't cause too much cumulative damage. The only car i've owned that needed premium was a...

Where is the best on-line site to sell my 2006 Tahoe??

Not too far from me there is an old guy who owns a lot with frontage on a major road. He charges $35/week to let you park your vehicle there. It gets pretty good visibility especially during peak commute hours. Maybe you can find something similar in your area?

    Austinite's 2000 NBS Tahoe Ex-Grocery Hauler Build

Thanks for this thread, I had many of the same exact questions. I really like the Victory Red and would consider painting my white 2001 Denali that color if I kept it. I'm local to Austin - 290 and 35 is maybe 30 minutes from my house. I think I could live with the door jambs not being painted.

https://www.centextruckandauto.com/pre-owned-cars/detail/2004-GMC-YUKON-2500-XL/320616 Not mine. A local dealer in the Austin, TX area (Dripping Springs) is selling this one. I did a pre purchase inspection on this one (cost me $199, yikes!). I ended up passing on it, not because there was...

Austinite's 07 Escalade Blacked Out on 35s Build

That's hilarious, I love how you can see his reflection in his photos. Yep. Guangzhou and Shenzhen are truly the center of the earth for electronics and now this means aftermarket infotainment systems. One of these days I need to make a pilgrimage there!

    Brake controller

I agree with Chris. The factory brake controller is really nice because it integrates with the ABS system. But the Tekonsha P3 is a great controller in its own right. In fact it has more features than the integrated controller: adjustable gain for different trailers, accelerometer based control...

'01 Yukon Throttle body cleaned, low idle & quits now

Neat. I use Torque Pro on Android, which in theory (and with the right adapter) should be capable of getting all this information directly. The trouble with reverse engineering this is that GM's legal department has deep pockets.
