    PCV, or not to PCV?

I have a 2009 5.3 with 150K miles on it. I grew up with the fact that PCV are regular maintenance items that must be replaced. However, with this engine, the PCV is part of the rocker cover that can't be pulled or screwed out. According to this TSB, any model built before Feb 1, 2011, has an...

Timken SP500301 Front Bearing Hub for GM 1500 4WD

I have one new and unused, Timken front wheel bearing and hub assembly that fits 07-14 GM 1500 4x4s (see the below list for fitment). These are the official Timken and not some knock-offs you find on eBay or Amazon. The way you can tell is that the real Timkens will have their name and model...

Airbag Man Heavy Duty Air Bag Suspension for 2007-2014 Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, and Escalade.

Air Bag Man air suspension for 2002-2014 GM 1500 Tahoe, Yukon, Suburbans, Escalade. The airbags are installed on the rear coil springs. This system has the Firestone 5106 airbags but also has a heavy-duty fabric sleeve that slips over the bags. The outside sleeve provides greater protection to...

After Lift, StabiliTrak occasionally turns off

I put a 4" BDS lift on my 2009 Tahoe. After the lift, I occasionally see the light flash for Stabiltrak. It's very temporary and then goes off. I have seen it do this while driving on the highway around curves, and off-road. The BDS site says that monir premature engagement of the StabiliTrak...

2009 5.3 with 150,000 miles. What oil additives to use?

2009 Tahoe 5.3 with 150000 miles. I do get a slight lifter tic when it's cold but goes away after it has been warmed up. I have been using synthetic oil only since 65000. I have been thinking about doing an oil additive to give the engine a good cleaning, thinking sludge and other shit may have...

    Alternator Upgrade Suggestions?

Thanks, that helps! On that page for my model, I only see one that has a standard pulley and is only at 250 A. That model number you gave is saying only 320 A. Just wondering if we are on the same page? If so, where did you find the shorter belt required for the smaller pulley? Also, any...

    Alternator Upgrade Suggestions?

I have a 2009 Tahoe LT with a stock alternator. I am building this vehicle for overlanding and it will/does have accessories such as lights, a winch, etc.. I am considering to move up to a heavier duty alternator to handle the extra load. Does GM produce a heavier duty alt, or will I have to...

    air bags or stiffer springs?

The specs for the builder springs are 4" diam and 5" tall, plus spacers. But, your suggestion could work too if I can figure out what to use to stack on the axle bracket. Without something there, I am still going to have a about 3" gap with the Sumo replacement.

    air bags or stiffer springs?

Its what they call the builder kit https://www.superspringsinternational.com/shop/sfr-102-40/ These won't fit in the OEM mount for the bump stops, but I am thinking I can mount it to the axel bracket I got from BDS, and then omit the OEM bump stop. I am not using a weight distribution hitch.

    air bags or stiffer springs?

I am putting on about 500 lbs max at the tongue when the trailer is fully loaded. The Sumo bump-stop replacements are going to be way too short for my rig. There will be about 3" air gap with those installed and that will be a lot of sag in the rear before the stop makes contact with the rear...

    air bags or stiffer springs?

No. That was supplied by BDS Suspension with the lift kit I got from them.

    air bags or stiffer springs?

The picture is with the rig sitting on the ground with no additional load other than its weight, so the distance you see in the pic is where it is without load. It's about 4" between the jounce and the riser. I was looking at Summosprings recently and have been considering them! I may look at...

    air bags or stiffer springs?

I did get airbags to put inside my coil springs. I got a kit from AirBag Man out of Australia where that includes a kevlar-type sleeve to help protect the bags. They claim that the bags can be aired up to twice the pressure with the sleeves on than without. I'll probably never air my bags up...
