I could really use some help - New shocks/springs/level.

Most likely. I am going to get some other opinions to make sure the CV angles are safe, but it will only be around 3" total lift in the front.

I could really use some help - New shocks/springs/level.

@The_Burban @Drok - I'll copy this over from my other thread. Summary/Notes of suspension parts I upgraded: Front shocks and springs - Shocks replaced with Bilstein 5100's (24-186940) Amazon $95.07 each - Set to the second notch - Springs replaced with Moog 81244 'Heavy Duty' springs - Amazon...

List of Repairs - DIY or Mechanic?

While doing these upgrades I noticed some oil spots on the ground. I'm wondering if anyone can help me narrow down what part it could be coming from. These spots accumulated over like 3 days so the leak is rather bad. I don't understand how what I did would have created it, but oh well. I did...

Hey guys, I wanted to give an update on this thread for anyone that may be looking to do some of the same repairs themselves. Summary/Notes of suspension parts I upgraded: Front shocks and springs - Shocks replaced with Bilstein 5100's (24-186940) Amazon $95.07 each - Set to the second notch -...

List of Repairs - DIY or Mechanic?

Thanks @Thebesta94. Did you find a youtube for the heater hose replacements? I just ordered RC uppers. Since taking apart my whole suspension last weekend, I know it's only about 30-45min per side to do UCA's.

I could really use some help - New shocks/springs/level.

So I just got off the phone with Moog directly, and the tech verified I do have the correct springs for anyone that may run into this same issue. The Moog 81244 are the "heavy duty" version and work perfectly on 4x4 applications. This was very great to hear that I don't have to take everything...

I could really use some help - New shocks/springs/level.

Hey @01Konvict . I'm actually 4WD. I had to take the CV axel nut off, etc. to replace the lower ball joint. The reason I got springs in the first place is that my Tahoe has 168k miles on it and I just figured I might as well do them since I was doing the shocks and taking the whole strut apart...

I could really use some help - New shocks/springs/level.

I completely understand. I am more of asking in regards to the spring/shock situation. Everything is tightened up to all the correct torque settings and the other parts looked to be in fine condition. As I mentioned earlier, I did the lower ball joints as well and I know they are solid. I was...

I could really use some help - New shocks/springs/level.

Ugh, that's going to put me out another $500 just to have a couple inch lift. Is the car safe to drive on the way it is? I'll have to wait another week if I'm ordering all new parts. Which UCAs do you recommend? Thanks for your help btw.

I could really use some help - New shocks/springs/level.

If I have to take apart the strut assemblies and compress the springs again anyway, I might as well put in the correct springs. With the correct springs in there, can I still do the RC 2" spacer? Which notch on the bilsteins would I go with also? I'd still like to have a small lift/level as I...

I could really use some help - New shocks/springs/level.

Here's what I don't understand. It looks like I was supposed to get the Moog 81246. But if you look at the spring specs, the "correct" spring is actually taller, which means it would have been even harder to get the hub all hooked up to the UCA...?

I could really use some help - New shocks/springs/level.

Ok, I think you nailed it Ken. I ordered the Moog 81244 springs, which now looking closer, says it "Fits models with electronic ride suspension." FML. So I have the wrong springs on there. Are these going to screw up the bilstein shocks? I read countless threads of people with this combo, not...

I could really use some help - New shocks/springs/level.

Hey Ken. So I did exactly this and it was still too much of a gap. The LCA pretty much bottomed out trying to reach it to the hub. I ended up removing the RC 2" spacer and was just able to connect it all up. Maybe I wait a week or so to let everything settle in then try the spacer again?

I could really use some help - New shocks/springs/level.

Hey guys. I just installed new strut assemblies with Bilstein 5100's, Moog Springs and RC 2" level kit. I also did the lower ball joint. Upon getting it all together, there is a huge gap between the hub and upper control arm. The whole hub seems to be way too low. The top of the stut is lined up...

@Derick - Are you recommending getting these for the lower, aluminum control arms?

List of Repairs - DIY or Mechanic?

Absolutely! They wanted $1,100 for shocks and ball joints. I'm doing all of those + the level/lift + springs for only $717

List of Repairs - DIY or Mechanic?

Hey Guys, I appreciate again all the support here. I decided to do the suspension portion this weekend. Here is the list of products I have in my cart, about to click purchase. I thought I'd just run it by here to make sure I'm doing this correctly. I decided since I'm doing new shocks, I might...

Great to know. This is the type of advice I really appreciate as it saves me from doing it all again in another year potentially.

Thanks Derick. I will probably replace the whole arm on both sides.

I saw that as well. I think it was a typo and he forgot to put quantity to "2".

List of Repairs - DIY or Mechanic?

Hey Bill. I actually did the same thing with my 350z. Rebuilt the entire suspension (it's a 2003). I'm talking every, single, part. Like you, it took me three+ weekends as well. I understand the the challanges ahead, just as @Darryl pointed out - things do not always go as planned. Again, I was...

Not at all. The brakes were done just last year (rotors and pads).

List of Repairs - DIY or Mechanic?

Great to know. Are there any items on this list that should be taken care of asap? Or do most of them seem like preventative maintenance? I only ask because I'm taking it out of town for the holidays next weekend (about 6 hours one way). I'm guessing it would be hard for anyone on here to know...

List of Repairs - DIY or Mechanic?

So my questions isn't really regarding the time, money, space, tools, etc (which I have). It's the difficulty of the jobs. I guess I should have been more clear on this. If all of these repairs are very much doable for the average home wrencher, then awesome. I just didn't know if there was...

List of Repairs - DIY or Mechanic?

Well good to know, thanks James. I actually love working on my cars, I'm just new to the Chevy/SUV game. It was amazing to see how much room there is in the engine bay to work compared to my 350z. I think the item that has the most priority is the heater hoses? He mentioned they are turning...
