Oh Man am I into this. Great work. I have had so many grounding issues with this car. It will be awhile before I get to it as I have a 2001 740i with a pretty good oil pan leak and oil sensor seal leak as well. Plus I did a complete overhaul on the cooling system on this one as well and one...
Yep that's the plan. Can't tell you all how much I appreciate the insight and the experience. I have done a lot of work with these cars over the years I have owned them but this was likely the most extensive so far. The little idiosyncrasies are what experience provides so you don't botch it...
Well, this is interesting news. Prior to teardown, motor ran like new with lot's of power. No smoke at all. Spark Plugs are perfect, injectors were amazingly clean and the build up of carbon on the cylinders and valves was what I would consider normal for this many miles. I think I am going...
I don't know how to thank you Chris. This is a killer write up. I sprayed "deep creep" by seafoam on it and that seems to soften everything up and it all came off easier than brake cleaner. Anyways I just cleaned the intake thoroughly and replaced the two o-rings on each injector as well...
So I have worked very hard at cleaning the mating surface. But the surface remains stained for lack of better words. Take a look at the picture please Chris. The surface feels smooth but the stains are still there. This is the hardest part I think.
OK so there is a lot of confusing info out there. It appears torque specs depends on what version of LS engine you have. Really just need rocker arm specs and procedure along with head bolts spec and procedure. There are also 5 smaller bolts above the head as well that I found needs on pass...
It looks like i have the two shorter head bolts on the outer holes. Is it 22lbs, 90, 90 for all bolts but the shorter two last pass is 50degrees?
The top small 10 mm bolts are one pass 22lbs. Just want to be sure I am reading this correctly. Thank you.
No Rtv on the head gaskets correct? It looks likethe bolts are 22 ft lbs, 90 second turn and then 70 final. Rocker arms are also 22 ft lbs as well? Seems a little much for those little bolts. Any wierd idiosyncrasies you all can think of before they go back on.
I have a couple of alignment guides stuck in my old cylinder heads. Is there another option. Thinking of cutting the heads off of a couple of the old bolts.
OK well it needs to get inline. I am currently replacing the Castech heads on my wifes 2003 tahoe. Not even half way there yet. Thank you for any and all input.
Thank you guys. Here is what I have done about 3500 miles ago. The entire front end linkage with the exception of the lower control arms. The noise wasnt there prior to new items . I can't get it to repeat the sound when on jacks. It isn't quite a clunk. Sometimes it sounds like torque...
Quick question. There is a plastic relatively long vacuum hose that connects to the front top of the intake manifold and connects in the back near the back of the engine. I cannot find this in the schematics. Does anyone have a part number for this. It is molded and plastic with connectors on...
Hello all!
Well I have this knocking or clunking sound from the left front. It will make the sound when hitting a certain type of bump at speed AND even at idle speed as I go down my drive way slowly and the vehicle torques over the curb. No sensation in the steering wheel. At first I...
