What did you do to your OBS GMT400 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Installed a heavy duty rack basket. It fits and clamps to the OEM roof rack. The red on the basket are polyurethane seals to keep most of the water away from the tubes to reduce rust. The shiny plastic near the front is a wind shield. Maximum cargo weight is 150 pounds which makes sense since...

You can never go wrong with Bilstein shocks, once you put them on consider your shocks replaced for the duration of your ownership, they're good for 175k plus.

The Rack Basket is on, will install clamps tomorrow

Since it was cool after a T-storm, I went ahead and installed the clamps that attach the basket to the OEM roof rack. Tomorrow, I'll tighten them all up after I center the basket. Because the bars the clamps ride on on the basket, there's not much positioning left except fore and aft. All...

The Rack Basket is on, will install clamps tomorrow

I think it looks more than strong. On my Yukon it could be at least 6-8 inches wider, but it's good as is. The red urethane you can see are water resistant seals to keep most of the water out of the tube clamps and interior of the basket tubes.

    Windshield washer aim?

I always hold the washer selector until the wipers make two or three passes before releasing it. That was the wipers are down while the spray continues, then the wipers push the fluid up and over. The whole area of wiper path gets fluid.

    1996 GMC Yukon Tire Size

By the way, stock tire diameter is a nominal 31.5 inches. You can go to Tirerack's web site and look up all sizes made for a given wheel diameter. You can then go to a specific tire to check diameter and recommend wheel width. There's tons of information available at Tirerack.

Bought Tahoe with TBs Cranked, How bad?

Bilstein for the win. There is no question that they're the best shocks for our trucks available. It's my opinion that if Bilstein corporate gives advice, it's the rule. I'll be checking my Bilsteins on my Z71 truck for fluid leaks and if I find that, I'll replace them by axle location.

And I'm back with a Limited

My wife's older car's HID lights, on a 2000 BMW 540i wagon, worked well after they lighted off and arrived at full power. They were low beams only because HID can't be used for intermittent use as high beams. LEDs eliminate that. My wife's current car, listed in my signature file below, has...

What did you do to your OBS GMT400 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

BMW recommends bleeding the entire brake system every two years which would prevent problems like seized bleeder screws and bad wheel cylinders/stuck caliper pistons for the most part. While I doubt most of us will do that task quite that often, I wouldn't go beyond five years between system...

Accessing roof rack holes from inside vehicle...

Good thread, sir. My new rack basket arrives tomorrow, will install it soon. While I won't be carrying kayaks with their known wind issues, I will be using the basket to carry a rack bag of varying weight. The OEM roof rack is limited to 200 pounds, but the owners manual states that's to be...

    A request for vehicle identification...

This is merely a request, I have no command authority out here and don't want that. Please put your year, make, and model (2 door or 4 door), and possibly some of the optional equipment in your signature file. That's in the pull down menu under your user name near the upper right hand corner...

    99 Tahoe 4dr ... 2nd fuel tank?

The company that made my 46 gallon replacement tank is https://www.transferflow.com. I'd call them to see if they can help you. My 30 gallon Yukon fuel tank should be good for 420 miles, assuming 15 mpg and 28 gallons usable fuel. Refueling at 400 miles should be safe enough in most parts of...

98 Tahoe Makeover with pinched roof????

Check to see if your homeowners insurance will pay for that repair. Also investigate the requirement for the city to maintain the condition of the trees along the "public thoroughfare" which is a normal requirement in many locations.

What is this window seal called and has anyone replaced it???????

Good deal, a basic rule for the future is never use epoxy or other permanent or semi-permanent adhesive on something that may have to be removed and replaced in the future.

New to the group - just picked up 95 Hoe 4x4

Welcome to the forum Big. If the oil pressure is low, the answer isn't "Marvel Mystery Oil", it's a Melling high volume oil pump. Easily installed, direct bolt on. I'll be putting one on my truck soon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C4POEG/

What did you do to your OBS GMT400 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

That's bad about the wringing off the bleeder screws. Still, wheel brake cylinders are cheap, and the calipers can either be taken off and have a removal tool used, or a rebuilt caliper used. They're just over $100.00 per pair.
