Hard to turn steering wheel in parking lot.

In our model..no. Not that I am aware of. If there were, we would know for sure. We would be able to see some sort of computer controlled electronics, connectors and servos attached to the P/S pump. A quick Google search shows the steering sensor is used for the traction control and...

Hard to turn steering wheel in parking lot.

So, going by what you had done...the problem I am having could be the gearbox as well? Guess I need to dive into the service manual a bit more and follow the step by step troubleshooting some more.

Hard to turn steering wheel in parking lot.

Yes I have hydroboost. So you bought a replacement pump and it works good now? What brand did you get?

Hard to turn steering wheel in parking lot.

A few years ago in put in a new power steering pump and it's just never worked well. It still has poor assistance when in parking lots and other low speed maneuvers. I'm about to spring for another pump but thought I would ask here first with all the experience and stuff. Does putting in GM...

Finished the Escalade steering wheel for my Tahoe

I meant to say that there are gm cars that have similar arcing type looking designs. The steering wheel on our last 2011 Buick Regal looked kind of like it. If you like it ...it shouldn't matter. I was just saying I don't care for it.

    99 tahoe issue

Your coolant temperature sensor might be bad or loose / broken connection at the connector. You will want to get a scan tool that reads coolant temperature or have a diagnostics shop perform the work.

Sell my Tahoe for new gen or keep?

A 2013 for 13k? Wow. I would buy that. My 2005 is listed at 8K still

Finished the Escalade steering wheel for my Tahoe

Nice... But I must say that I hate the look of those steering wheels. GM must have been smoking something to make the car steering wheels the same as the trucks.

    Fuel Pump Problems Again

...this is also a classic symptom of a leaking fuel pressure regulator

    Fuel Pump Problems Again

Yeah, seems like your pump is ok. If the engine is hard to start with good fuel pressure then you've got some type of base timing, or sensor out of whack. If you had a ground issue at the pump you wouldn't be getting 50 psi.

What's the pressure doing at KOEO? How is it at idle? Quick snap?

    Engine life

The #1 cause of engine failure is a faulty cooling system. Make sure efans are working properly, clean radiator fins. Replace thermostat, water pump and coolant when needed. I removed my efan assembly a few years ago to get behind the radiator and sprayed the fins from the back side (opposite...

Oil pan gasket and pickup tube seal replacement

Possibly. More likely I installed it wrong or indeed used the wrong sealant. Reviews of other aftermarket brand oil pan gaskets seem to have their leak complaints as well. This might suggest installation error...or some type of engineering design oversight. With all the different LS blocks that...

Oil pan gasket and pickup tube seal replacement

Yeah so it looks like that permatex would work as well. Now on to check the pan gasket..to see if the original design has been superseded. Edit: the oil pan gasket is correct. New part number is 12612350. Thats what I bought and put in. Probably can't source an old one anyway besides eBay...

Oil pan gasket and pickup tube seal replacement

Ah-ha. I found it. We are using the wrong stuff!! The front and rear covers + oil pan use GM 12378190 which has been superseded to 19333512. Here is a partial install steps for front and rear cover Front cover Apply a 5 mm (0.20 inch) bead of sealant GM P/N 12378190, or equivalent 20 mm...

Oil pan gasket and pickup tube seal replacement

I think its this stuff. Like I said previously..its like that pipe thread sealant you put on gas pipe thread. Or like the pre-applied stuff you see on sensors ...like the water temp sensor. It's made to fill in a minute gap. What has me scratching my head is ...why in the heck wouldn't a...

Oil pan gasket and pickup tube seal replacement

Yes...what type of sealant/RTV does GM recommend for the front timing chain and rear main covers? Is it an "anerobic sealant" or RTV? Because they should both be the same as the gaps being filled are similar and right next to each other.

Oil pan gasket and pickup tube seal replacement

Same thinking here. Just hold on a bit. I can do the research if needed unless someone else wants to take the lead. We need to figure out first if there really is a 5.3 gasket design change for our year. Then we need to know what specific problem is it supposed to fix. I swear I installed my...

    New CV Axle leaking

Not 100% sure about this...but are the aftermarket cv axles supposed to leak any amount of grease at all? There is some black moly coming out both sides of the driver's outboard boot.

Want to start a 6.0 HO project...

Can someone point me in the right direction to find an 6.0 or 6.2 HO block? I test drove a 6.2 Maxx one time and loved the throttle response and torque. Can these be retrofitterd into a NBS engine bay? I'm assuming there are no factory compatible PCM's...could be wrong. Just looking for a stock...

Oil pan gasket and pickup tube seal replacement

It's the oil pressure sensor or camshaft position sensor leaking if it's coming from higher up. The intake manifold doesn't seal off any oil passages.

Oil pan gasket and pickup tube seal replacement

Your leak description is exactly like mine. Perhaps because we used RTV or we put it on the wrong area. That waffle looking area might actually be a symbol to not put anything on that area? Who knows. The instructions did say to use a specific sealant. When I had the pan off I checked both the...
