I'm looking at these cheap headers for my 2004 GMC Yukon 5.3L:

The title says they fit 4.8L and 5.3L engines but the compatibility tool says only the...
I couldn’t have put it any better myself. I just don’t want to do the work and spend the money on this one then have something else go out down lower more than likely.
What are the differences between the 862 and 706 heads? I haven't found a definite answer yet. The rebuilt engine I'm looking at says it comes with either 862 or 706 heads. What differences would I notice going from 862's to the 706's like the one they have pictured?
Also, they would definitely...
Even if I replaced my engine with a similar new one I would still see more power and better fuel economy right? Since engines lose power over time and all.
I sent an oil sample in for testing a while ago and I haven't heard back yet. Should be any day now. I don't have a lot of faith in a used engine either.
I may have answered part of this after you. Read my post above.
Yes, I'm guessing it quit knocking after the oil got circulated. I don't know, you could be right. I would just hate to spend the time and money to replace the heads the right way then have a bearing go out or something.
I finally found the right adapters and pressure tested the cooling system. I set it at about 17 PSI and within a minute I could see orangish water and bubbles coming up through the crack in the middle oil drain back hole. I left it for about 45 minutes and the PSI had dropped a couple of pounds...
That seems like a really good deal… Unless I'm missing something. Does the $2800 include what you get back for the core charge? Are you looking at this one? So it says it's an ATK. Does that mean ATK made the engine or they rebuilt it? I don't know how that works exactly...
I will look into that, thanks. Do you think I could have it installed by a mechanic and they'd honor the warranty?
This might be a dumb question but how do I know if I have an engine oil cooler?
I just spoke to my dealer about a 5.3L remanufactured crate engine. I figured they'd be a good starting point. The price of the engine wasn't astronomical BUT labor to swap in the new one was. For $3,000 I'd consider doing it myself instead and swapping an engine is pretty intimidating to me.
I...
Anyone know a good place to find prices on a new crate engine or is the dealer my best bet? Probably looking for one from GM. I don't know if that's the direction I'm going yet, just want to compare prices.
I went and rented one of those on my lunch break but it wouldn't fit on my reservoir. There isn't a radiator cap, correct? Maybe the other part number has different sizes?
So I do a lot of city driving and never average 12 MPG (I reset the average MPG every time I get gas). I usually average...
That's what I thought. I'll try them again.
Yeah I don't have a reputable scrap yard here. We have one but it's more of a pull it yourself, take your own risks kind of a place. That would be great if the 6.0 swapped right in.
Well I ran it yesterday for about 20 minutes. Would that have built enough pressure?
Why such a big difference in price for a new one? Does that include labor too?
Time to weigh some options...
I wonder where that oil sample is... Haven’t heard from them yet.
