Coolant in Oil - What Now?

I am almost certain those are cracks in there. Would the oil make that pattern for any other reason? Would it be worth buying a coolant pressure tester to confirm? There isn't a place here I can rent one from so I'd have to buy one and they're not as cheap as I'd like. I'm leaning heavily...

Coolant in Oil - What Now?

Have they revised the heads so they don't crack anymore in new engines?

Coolant in Oil - What Now?

I didn't see any reason to check the other side after seeing the passenger side. Do I need to?

Coolant in Oil - What Now?

I was hoping I wouldn't find that logo when I took the passenger valve cover off... It also looks like I have cracks where everyone said they'd be. Do I even need to pressure test it? I didn't touch anything in there before I took the photos.

Coolant in Oil - What Now?

You guys are right. I'll check the heads myself tonight. I'll pick up a coolant pressure tester after work.

Coolant in Oil - What Now?

Not that I know of. How would I check for that? It seemed to pour smoke out of both sides the whole time even after it reached operating temperature. When smoke stopped coming out the exhaust it also stopped coming from the engine.

Coolant in Oil - What Now?

So today I finished putting it back together and ran it until it reached operating temperature then I changed the oil. When I first started the truck it made the same knocking sound as it did before. It was definitely coming from down low in the engine. Then after about 2 minutes of idling it...

Coolant in Oil - What Now?

Okay so are you saying the heads all crack in the exact same place? On a side note, could a blown head gasket cause a coolant leak?

Coolant in Oil - What Now?

Alright finally made some progress today. Replaced the intake manifold gaskets and the valley cover plate gasket. I just have to put the fuel rails and injectors and the throttle body back tomorrow. I have new gaskets for the valve covers but I figured the dealer would check in there anyway for...

Coolant in Oil - What Now?

That's good info, thank you. I'm getting really worried about mine though.. What causes the heads to crack? Just normal driving?

I'll have the dealer do that if they will.

Coolant in Oil - What Now?

I hadn't heard of that before but I just looked into it and it seems pretty sweet! I'm guessing they're more expensive than my L59 though?

Coolant in Oil - What Now?

So how do you determine if they're cracked?

Coolant in Oil - What Now?

Coolant in Oil - What Now?

No, not yet unfortunately. I received the last part yesterday so I should be good to go when I have some free time. Hoping for this weekend. I did send the oil sample off to get analyzed last week though.

Phantom DIC messages: "Service Tire Monitor" and "Service 4wd"?

I used to get the service tire monitor message every time I started the truck. I finally took it to the dealer and they determined it was most likely that the batteries in the sensors were dying. They said a couple of the sensors were barely registering with their scanner tool. That made sense...

Gotcha. Wasn't sure if a knock sensor or something would throw a code.
