    I think that the PPV's have a combination of BCM Programing and wiring to enable "surveillance" mode which will disable automatic lights.

    I had a 2001 Yukon XL that would due that. Did it when the engine started to overheat. I figured it was one of those self protection modes. Ended up being water pump/ low coolant that triggered it.

    Electrical issue...

    Usually when a the side flashes in hyper mode it is indicating that one of the bulbs on that side is burned out. The remaining good bulbs flash rapidly.

    I had this same issue. Violent lockup in reverse. Broken caliper bolt. New Midas installed brakes. I guess they gave it the Midas touch!
