Ordered mine last week when it started. The turn-time to receiving my AutoCal was unbelievable! Logging some miles now to send off.
By chance do you have a “best practice” for the type of driving to capture? I saw your recommendation, but any more detail would be great. Super excited so send...
Welcome! My Burb is the same “Construction Site White.” Hides all the dirt!
My wife makes the joke that I learn everything from YouTube. I have not been wrong since taking approaching life from this academia point of view. Looking forward to seeing what you bring up for discussion.
Sounds like a general cream puff. You know the fin manager took care of the car for them.
If the price seems inline with market I think you could do worse.
Do you know any history on the vehicle? Single owner who drove it back and forth to church or a hotshot driver who loaded to the max ever weekend and drove it like he/she/it stole it? This would help with some general feedback. Redoing all the fluids is a good place to start if you purchase...
I mean… 160k isn’t a lot lol. My 01 had 297k on it and lived a HARD life before it had catastrophic issues.
I think with AFM disabled the general consensus is the 5.3 and 6.2 are pretty reliable. General issues might still arise from use but nothing from a design stand point. Hope some others...
I think if you REALLY wanted a 6.0 w/ the 6L90 in a Tahoe then you can source a truck with the blown 5.3 and a wrecked work truck with the 6.0. Proceed with swap. I don’t remember the guy’s handle on here who documented his 6.6 swap into a Burb but search for it, it’s a GREAT read! *he did sell...
But yes, @strutaeng is correct with the transmission aspect. 6L90 is a reliable one based on a lot of info out there.
There are no 6.0 Tahoes out there but you can find the 3500 Suburban LS and LT (trim models with options specific to each but LS is base model) as well as the previous...
The 6.0 in the 3500 does not have any AFM. I’m not overly familiar with the LT vs LS differences but I did have an 01 2500 Suburban with the 6.0 and it was a great truck as well. The K2 3500 are not super readily available but they are out there.
I daily mine and it’s a great vehicle but a bit...
Ok, that’s hopefully what I conveyed. I did ask to see if they can change the Tow/Haul mode to be more aggressive/better optimized for towing and hauling while the normal be as “normal” as possible.
Also, did the transfer case and front diff fluid. Transfer case had more on the magnet than expected but seems “normal” based on videos I watched. Front diff fluid was garbage. It was very smelly and funky color. So much for “dealer maintained.”
Glad I got the new fluids in and SUPER easy to...
I am so excited for it based on what you and others have hyped up Blackbear to be!
I put on the form that it is up to their discretion. I use my truck as a daily driver and family hauler, but need/want it for long term reliability and heavy duty use. What did you list down for preferences...
Full chip-and-cabutal ordered from @BlackBearPerf. Very much looking forward to what they can do and be part of their exclusive club.
Also, wondering if @Geotrash and I are the only tuned Suburban 3500 on the road. 1 of 2!
Will be putting my order in next week as well. Hoping to be able to ask for something similar with quicker response for kick-down.
Super excited to hear your results and see their results on mine as well.
Can you find an H2 in a scrap yard and pull the sway bar from that?
I did the Rancho 9000s and new shocks make a HUGE difference. Rears were gone and one front shock puked oil on my as soon as I lifted the truck off the ground. One one “good” shock left and that could have easily been debated...
I do not disagree with Stbentoak but I think if we all knew how many miles and climate you are in that would help.
Factory tires are not the same as aftermarket, even if they are the same “brand” so new tires may be on your event horizon.
Michelin are really great tires or for a more “rugged”...
I found the flat black from Home Depot, Rustoleum matches factory pretty darn well. Did that with 3 different roof racks and all have held up well. Might not need to spend much more for roof rack touch up.
Agreed but probably similar price to a 6L90 swap with accessories, no?
Looked it up and Nazty Nate on YouTube did a Duramax swap on his Yukon 2500 and I think his bill was about $15k all in?
If I may recommend, look at lowering your purchase budget and pull the full engine and do a diesel swap. I think from what I am reading in your post, you want a bulletproof and somewhat-unique truck.
Diesel swapping the 2500 appears to be fairly doable. There is a YouTube channel that did it in...
Hello hello! Great looking truck! This was almost the exact spec I was looking at pulling the trigger on before my 18 3500 came up. You will not be disappointed. These are great baby haulers as I was doing a similar upgrade as well.
Enjoy and stay engaged! Cheers.
I’m not super familiar with the newer engines but I had a similar issue on my old Suburban 2500. The MAF sensor was completely shot due to mileage and major abuse. It would do a lot of what you are saying with CEL and every light, that could go on, would flash. Check that and your engine filter...
For the 6.2 you will want to have the AFM removed. It’s a longevity killer and others will confirm. Recommend @BlackBearPerf to assist with that and their tunes will also help other aspects of the trucks performance. I have not done it yet but it’s on my to-do list for my truck as well! I will...
