I used this guy's stuff to disable my afm when I got it at 135k. it seemed to still be working fine, but I already had hptuners handy. so seemed like a good idea.
it's definitely a bandaid fix...
if you use a non afm lifter Valley with afm lifters installed.. you'll have nothing but trouble. the lifters will collapse from built up pressure. it's been done here before. and guy that did it got unlucky and the lifter didn't pop back up. he was also working in a parking garage doing it...
very nice. I love a good headlight project.
I just got back from what turned into a 5h night drive on a GPS adventure thru the never ending back roads in tx. always thankful for good lights when it's pitch black and have no idea where the roads are going but the speed limit start at 70 haha...
what year is your truck?
even if the light isn't in, the code is stored. usually along with a freeze frame data of everything that was happening when the code set.
so moves while cranking over like doing the compression test but when it runs it doesn't?
I feel like I've read that somewhere before
if so, i believe it's a vlom solenoid issue. the afm lifters are activated by oil pressure. the oil pressure unlocka them and the valves don't move. you...
I. must have scrolled right by it.
wow, 2008 specific. that's pretty wild. good job getting it fixed. I would have never guessed a reflash ecm over sulfur
this has been covered here to the 9th degree.
you can disabled afm in the tune and it will pass all monitors and pass any emissions testing in the country. even California. Jasper also sells a non afm replacement 6.2 if I remember right that's 50 state legal.
the problem with the ob2 port...
you'd read the fault code with a scanner. like a tech 2 or something that can read the full list not just the ecm.
give him that code and see if it's in his list that can be disable. or he might be able to request it he added if his software is supported like that. I don't know anything about...
is it running smoothly?
if it's smooth and fuel trims aren't crazy. you might drive around a bit. get it up to temp and see how It does.
if it's missing, it seems like it would be spark related. Definitely chack that power to coil
it's weird too since Louisiana requires every sale to be signed by a notary, which I was told at least, that being a notary wasn't a simple thing like in other states and his wife ran a small business.
I think he just didn't expect any trouble from a quick sale. either way, I get that selling...
crazy story, this happened in Louisiana, so it might be just their state laws. but I worked with a guy that sold his wife's mini van. it had a powersteering leak, like obvious dripping on the ground. the rack bolts to the firewall and was a hard fix, so he sold it instead. he says he told the...
that's sounds miserable. I'm also not a fan of humans in general and would probably never want to sell anything on CL again.
only upside to fb is if someone messages you, you can atleast look at their profile. if it doesn't look like a normal person just don't reply. you will have to pay...
just to add thou my service manual doesn't actually call for a vacuum fill on a ls. other cars require it, while it's not a bad idea to do, it's not a particularly complex cooling system. all is says is basically fill, idle till stat opens. turn off, wait till it cools off. top off reservoir and...
you probably coulf, just need the brackets off a normal truck or a ls alt mount. but if you do I'd isolate it from the 12v system in the truck if possible. ground and pos. the hybrid system does a lot of safety checks for voltage in the wrong places at each start up. hate to set off a code and...
a valve spring is definitely worth checking for.
you can also try mechanically release the stuck lifter. it seems to work if it hasn't been driving long enough with a stuck lifter that it damaged the cam or the lifter holders
if it was just leaking the stat is probably fine. good to change but I wouldn't expect it to all of a sudden stick closed because you changed radiator. if it was over heating before hand, I thought maybe the stat was stuck closed.
only thing else besides pulling it out and swapping it, which...
there's been posts from others about that weird clamp leaking. I replaced mine and it still leaks some haha.
if your flex pipe is bad, an exhaust shop could replace it and that style clamp with something else. or just weld it solid
I feel like either could do it if they are even a half way decent mechanic but throw the scammer up from behind the counter in the mix and who knows. I'm honestly not sure which would be better. maybe a tranny shop?
I don't trust walking into shops myself, I know I'm going to end up getting...
pull the valve cover and see if the rockers move on #4. if not, I'd personally try to release the afm lifter just out of curiosity since I'm guessing this isn't you're daily right now.
