Well fellas, I've reached the end of the road with FrankenBetty. I couldn't do the commute in the hubby's '12 Sierra and the ac went out again on Betty, so I pulled the trigger on a 16 Buick Encore. I'll either sell her or eventually work on her but she is not a daily anymore
Man I don't remember the last time I was a back to back poster of WDYDTYOBST. We are still keeping LKQ in business. Scored a new fender to replace the buggered up front left on Betty. While we were robbing this truck, I spied with my little eye another 120 cluster in a 2000 Escalade. Grabbed...
My original I sent back to RA because it was wore slap out.
This is the rag joint replacement

We went to the junkyard, found an upper shaft that looked decent and did the modification to the end to make everything fit and then...
How long did they take with it? I did a RA box on my two door and I swear it grabs half the time. Even took out the rag joint for the new updated ujoint connector and put a steering stabilizer in and I swear it is still like steering through mud
Tim is getting ready to swap the intake manifold on Betty. Also gonna have to swap in a new AC compressor. This one pooped the bed. He replaced the tensioner and idler pulley. So much better. Less racket.
So FrankenBetty has had another ac compressor poop the bed. The front seals on these things are absolute garbage. I just bought an AC Delco compressor on 4/25 and installed it. It is leaking out the front seal. This is two in the past 18 months. Anyone got some suggestions?
I think that left front frame rail is slightly bent. That tire wears weird, the hook up front is bent way up and the gaps weren't lined up. We might go ahead and take it to frame shop and have them measure and see what is up. The fenders were $40 all together, so not a huge amount of money...
We swapped the driver's door and the front fenders. The sag in the door didn't go away, we were going to do the spot weld on the pins to keep them from walking back out and just lost that project in the shuffle of the year. So now I need another left fender.
The boy somehow managed to get...
The door would sometimes bind on the fender when we replaced them, usually when the damn door pins started working their way back out. Tim was going to pound them back in and then we went out of town. I jumped in without thinking anything of the pop I heard when I opened the door. Went to get...
Not much has been going on with FrankenBetty. Oh except for when we got back from hunt camp and I went to move her so we could unload the camper, the driver door binded up hard on the front fender and crunched the fender seam. That sucked. Tim had to bust out the sawzall and get the door...
I had a leak along my brand new headliner in the left rear corner. Replaced the gasket along my barn doors. Resealed my 3rd taillight. Removed the roof rack. Had the left rear quarter glass (yes, that big ass one). Found a pinch weld that had come apart on the window channel that faced out...
Update time! The C10 lives. A few more tweaks to the tune, some wiring issues to work out and a throttle plate adjustment and it's running. Next step is the two piece driveshaft install and then that thing is moving out of my driveway! I'm so proud of him. The project has taken a bit but...
So Tim discovered the problem with the alternator not charging. The wire that goes from there to the battery was a heap of poop and it was melted in a few spots. New wire and it charges, the ac blows harder and it's a nice ride. Still needs a tranny but it's not my daily anymore after today...
So the caveat to that video is that 1,6 and 8 aren't hot, not sure why and it's running super rich. I'm sure he'll have to mess with the tune and get that all squared away.
Thank you for the very hearty belly laugh this morning. Oh on another note, y'all remember my kid's C10 with the LS swap and giant turbo? It fired up for the first time yesterday.
Alright, stuff is finally going to happen with FrankenBetty. Mainly because Tim is going to be using her as his daily. I'm inheriting the '12 GMC 1500 HD. Which is going to be interesting. But first thing's first, got to upgrade the alternator. It can't keep up with the a/c and radio. So...
I saw the red one before up for auction. They wanted some crazy number like $30k if I recall correctly. I like the black one but my first thought was, where is the bottom molding from the B pillar on the right side? Damn, who knew these things could make people so picky!!!
