Y'all,

After a long day of wrenching, one of the last items to do was reconnect the transmission cooling lines to the radiator, but one of the retaining clips went "BING!" and shot off somewhere in the engine compartment. 45 minutes of looking in every nook and cranny, doing lots of "reacharounds," and shoving magnet retrievers everywhere, it's nowhere to be found.

I am having a heck of a time finding the part on GMPartsDirect, but Summit has:

- ACDelco 88960976

- Chevrolet Performance 24205103

- Dorman 800-801 (but a one-star review says "The 3/8" clips will not work with 3/8" line.")

Any suggestions? I need to get this taken care of ASAP, so it looks as if I'll be doing a 120-mile round trip to Summit tomorrow morning (it is not an enjoyable drive -- I'm 30 miles north of Atlanta and Summit is 30 miles south of Atlanta, so that's a lot of traffic at most times of the day).

Thanks,
Scrappycrow

I had the same thing happen, but fortunately my new radiator had new clips...

Looking at the AC Delco and Chevy Performance you listed, the Chevy Performance has Tahoe's listed under the applications, whereas the AC Delco shows Corvette and Impala..

Ah, I hadn't caught that, as I'd drilled down to the parts via the vehicle selection first. So, something in their process is out of whack. Now I see the ACDelco "applications" page has an entry "Application Notes" that says "OD 28.77MM EXPANDING SPRING WIRE BLUE," which means it's about 1-1/8" OD - way too big!

24205103 is the correct part.

Now, you can find this piece as part of the fitting that screws into the radiator and internal oil cooler at your local auto parts store, saving you a drive down to McDonough.

ACDelco 15226661

The stores carry Hayden, Murray, Dorman fittings with the clip included. They're probably on the HELP isle too.

Now you know why they tell us to use the Lisle 22930 Jiffy-Tite low profile disconnects. The clip stays put and doesn't get the chance to fly away.
