Ah hell... I went to reinstall everything and despite thinking I glued that nipple on well it broke off again. I also filled my tank up with gas and got the WORST mileage since I bought the truck (I've logged every tank) just under 12MPG.
I'm not sure what's up. Super annoying. After I filled...
I took apart the Vent hose. VERY easy with a heat gun. I'm trying to spec out quick connect fittings though. I notice if I buy on eBay they are literally a fraction the cost of parts store doorman.
I think the vent hose is a 5/8" SAE right angle QC. Not exactly sure if I spec right though...
My parking brake didn't work when I bought my truck. I went through and rebuilt everything outside of the axles. Still nothing although...
A new adjustable parking brake cable may help a bit. This runs from the pedal to the rear end of the truck along the driver side frame member.
I found out...
Interesting experience. I went to the junkyard, pulled all the evaporative lines and looked for another evap. Only found one and it was broken same way as mine. I spoke with one of the junkyard dudes that super smart with this stuff. He told me how to fix mine and they gave me the old evap lines...
I will have to get some of those and try them out. I would be awesome if a screw on type could be retrofit. I hat QD stuff. Except for on the fuel rail where it seems to work nicely cause you can fit a QD tool.
I'm curious, can the evap system cause the truck's fuel mileage to suffer? I assume...
All fuel lines are good. The evap crap just crumbled in the hand though *sigh*. The lines are perfect but the QD's are shot. Can you buy just the QD ends for the evap lines? I was going to pickup all lines at junkyard. They're a bloody fortune new :( I'd delete the evap system before I put new...
I dropped the tank a little while ago and put a new pump then, cleaned and restored what I could.
However, yeah, I should feel up there on top where pump goes in. Good point. It only smells when it's running though.
I felt everywhere else but top of the tank.
What do you do about the lines...
I've done some work to my Evap system. Truck occasionally wreaks of fuel though so I'm back into it. I've replaced everything except the lines (I think are good) and canister. I just pulled the canister to test it.
All besides the point, these...
Awesome, I know the one on the driver side, under the exhaust manifolds / on crankcase.
I don't know of one of the passenger side of the block... do you know are they referring to the back of the lifter valley behind the cover / near firewall?
I have a pinout for the PCM but curious if anybody knows which chassis grounds are closes the PCM / tied into the PCM.
As well as the Aux power.
Backstory: I tuned my truck. Wired up wideband and ran it off aux power with Cigarette power adapter. I noticed when the watching the wideband w/o...
I will have to check him out on YouTube. My head is spinning. That thing was insanely difficult to get to work. I tried so hard. It seems to be holding together... looks like absolute dog $hit but heck I cannot see it most of the time.
Thanks for the help. Anybody know of some good tutorials on YouTube? Hate to ask like that, but I watched a bunch and don't really know how to pick the good from the bad.
I ended up cutting up a door hinge and welding it in there. Was cheapest way to get a small chunk of metal to put it...
I'm a terrible welder, but have that itty bitty $100 harbor freight 110V welder. I've done a few things with limited success. Most recently my passenger fender broke where were the core support attaches. It ripped off right around the bolt.
I welded it back up and my welds didn't hold. I had...
Did you have a machine shop make you one? If you do can you let me know, I may just order one from them too. My closets machine shop is in Tucson and I kind of avoid that place but if I get up there I'll let you know and see what they want to make you one too.
I am leaning towards just cutting a hole where rod for master cylinder would be for clutch pedal would be if was a manual. Then if I need to redo my CB radio, roof light, etc I can just work with that gland instead of poking holes in the factory one...
Anybody know what cable glad is good? I've...
It's got a connector on the end. I rand several cables through my factory grommet. Made a mess. The one I think you're speaking of is for the parking brake. I'd kind of like a location where I can expand and add more cables if necessary in the future.
I previously used the factory gland on the driver side of the firewall. That was a NIGHTMARE. I'm thinking I need to drill a new hole for my new wideband O2 setup. My first thought would be to drill where the slave cylinder would be if I had a manual transmission...
Any thoughts?
Thanks, it is a mostly a toy but I do use it frequently. I had same trouble AEM support. My meter came with a bad sensor and they didn't want to send me a new one... so I bought a new one for $30. Turns out they "modify" the sensor a d you have to buy any replacements direct from them. So costs...
I looked closer at my C5. It's a 1999. It doesn't have that one I put in the picture. It's slightly different...
I asked Richard Holdener on one of his videos. He got back with me and said the late style LS1 manifolds flow better than the log style. They are essentially shorty headers (just...
Nice! Now to rig something up like that. I might have to have a machine shop do that for me.
Do you know what kind of paint will stick to these magnesium cases? Mine is corroded really bad.
I have a C5 corvette in addition to my 2001 Tahoe w/ built LQ9. My Corvette is nicely equipped too... but my question is I wonder if any of the exhaust parts are feasible on the truck.
Specifically, the LS1/LS6 manifold design looks a bit better? I noticed GM seems to have discontinued the part...
