Ok. Also keep in mind that Slime and similar products are temporary solutions to get you home or to a tire shop. Once you're off the side of the road the wheel should be taken to a tire shop to be dismounted from the rim and the tire and rim be cleaned out. Otherwise those products will eat away...
Got a bit of Christmas money that I'm dumping back into the old girl. I ordered a weld together steel bumper kit for a Jeep XJ ($140) that I'll be adapting to the Tahoe, and I bought a few sticks of steel to start building a roof rack. Also going to build a swing out tire carrier and the wife...
I'm doing this to an '86 Dodge truck that I'm swapping an extended cab onto. The route I went was to take a cut out frame section from another truck to splice into the middle of my existing frame. Weld it in place and then also plate over the welded together sections.
Not a project for a...
The age of your suspension will also play a role.
As is the case with SUVs, the chances are higher than in a car, but you can sling these things around pretty good before getting into a bad spot.
That said, I bought mine post-roll over. PO rolled it and then passed it on down the road.
The lower mount is also being held straight by the support of the mount clamping into the original bushing in the control arm. That does allow a certain degree of flexibility, but also provides a good amount of support.
Of course, if the bolts do end up starting to loosen off I will just torque...
I just got a plasma for the first time a few months ago. Talk about a game changer.
The aluminum I think will be fine since there's only the load of the shock on it. I've used aluminum spacers in harsher conditions.
That's awesome, and thanks! Theoretically they won't see much side load, but this is a [relatively] short term solution anyway. I plan to swap a Dana 44 under the front of the ** and do a 4 link setup in the front eventually.

Welcome to the home of doing the right thing the wrong way.
I had some new shocks laying around for an '88 Dodge D150, and my Tahoe still had the original shocks at 295k miles. I looked up the specs and they were pretty close, so I decided to make em work.
Rear was easy peasy. Bolt in, just...
How many miles on your 4l60e? '65 is not a much better story. The most noteworthy difference is the 5 pinion planetary gears, and the planetary gears are not going to be his failure point. The only meaningful trans upgrade would be a 4l80e, and that is pretty involved. Not worth the time for...
The company truck did get a new cylinder. We didn't have it keyed so any key works in it, but it looks like it's there anyway. As for my own, it's not worth the $200 for a new lock cylinder and frame.
Interesting. Are you sure you've got it wired correctly? Post up a diagram or some pictures...
I've had a couple Tahoe's this body and unfortunately I think this is a bit more severe.
Actually, an additional detail I forgot. On two occasions pulling out from a stop, mid throttle, it has revved way up (~3000 rpm) and then suddenly caught violently, spinning the tires and all.
Hey all! This is actually a Silverado question, but I was hoping one of you kind folks may have some insight.
I've got an '02 2500HD with a 6.0/'80e. When I'm driving down the interstate and let off the gas it acts like the converter unlocks. When I hit the gas again, even easily, it flares up...
I have little input here other than it is definitely cheaper to have your driveshaft shortened. Last one I had done was $60 or $65 out the door, and he also installed new universals (I supplied).
Super interesting read!
Unless you're just real attached to your ABS, I think the Dodge hubs are a...
How much lift are you looking for?
Spindles plus torsion keys are going to get you into the 5-6" range. At that point you also need brake lines, shocks, abs line extenders probably.
In the rear I've seen z71 springs recommended for small amounts of lift, never personally used them. Good for...
Live in a low crime area, and have a beat to s*** Tahoe that nobody wants to steal.
I've got three vehicles now that have received this treatment, never had a problem. Truthfully it's not super obvious it's been converted if you go about it right.
Hey all! So you've lost your key, and the dealer cut key didn't work. Or maybe someone tried to steal your truck and buggered up the ignition cylinder. I found myself in both of these situations in the past week, in two separate vehicles. Here's my solution.
Let me go ahead and state, you will...
I got it sorted out. I forgot to feed power to the small white wire in the ignition switch after converting to pushbutton start.
Thanks for everyone's help.
