Truck sat for a couple weeks, now lots of trans codes and instrument cluster issues.

Thanks guys! The battery is still good. It's pretty new, still holding charge good and cranks over fast so it's putting out plenty of amperage. I'll do some digging through the harness and see if I can find anything. Are there any specific grounding points I should double check?

    Ignition Pin Out

I'll try to get it up over the weekend!

Truck sat for a couple weeks, now lots of trans codes and instrument cluster issues.

Hey all! Looking for a bit of help on what appears to be an electrical problem, but I'm not sure where to start diagnostically. The truck sat for a couple weeks; lost the keys. The battery died during that time and it sat dead for the majority of that period. A couple days ago a buddy needed...

Got it figured and the steering wheel lock disabled, I'll share how when I get more time.

This is a 2000 model by the way, if it makes any difference.

    Ignition Pin Out

Hey all! I've lost the key to my Tahoe, and the one I got recut from the dealer doesn't work. Ignition cylinder was probably replaced at one point. I need to get it running ASAP (like tonight if possible), and I have the VATS tuned out, so I was wondering if anybody knew the ignition pin out? If...

Looking for a lost article about dyno testing stock cylinder heads.

That looks like info from the same article. Thanks Unfortunately no, that one is a comparison of aftermarket heads. That's a similar test. Not exactly the same, but close. Thanks!

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Oh man, that blows! I always knock one of the lug studs out and then use a bolt through the stud hole with a nut on the back side to push the hub free. Not gonna work there unfortunately...

Looking for a lost article about dyno testing stock cylinder heads.

Hey all! I'm looking for a specific article that I've seen but I'm having trouble finding. It was by motortrend, super Chevy, or someone like that. One of the big magazines. The article was specifically a Dyno test between stock cylinder head castings. Not a flow bench comparison, and not...

If you're going straight to get an alignment, don't sweat it too much. You're not going to shred your tires or put yourself in danger in that shirt of a time. When I do UCAs and am not able to leave a mark, I just set the adjusters to the middle of their range and let em ride. The place I like...

    Upper Control Arm recommendations?

For one inch you'll be fine with stock UCAs. For that little you don't need to replace keys either. Just crank the stock keys and get a front end alignment. I do it to every one of these I've owned. For alignments, I like to go back to the dealer. One of the few things I go to a dealership for...

That was another consideration. We had just started into a more narrow section of trail when the snow started again. We considered driving to the next good turning point, but didn't know how far it would be. We ended up backing about 300' back down the trail to a spot just open enough for us to...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I had to look back at the map to confirm, but yep. That's the way we went. We were definitely playing it on the safe side since it's an unfamiliar area. There were a couple other sets of folks staying up there. One jeep that looked like it had been up there at least a couple days, no signs of...

Final Colorado update! Yesterday evening we drove south and hit Geneva Creek(?). We found a mild trail on AllTrails listed "Geneva Creek Iron Fens", and we hit it about 5.30. It had snowed up there about 4 inches already when we started up and it was a gorgeous drive. A ways up the trail we...

AC Issues - Wiring compressor clutch to a switch

All right fellas, we're headed back into lower elevations today so I did a bit of poking around. I did find a blown fuse I missed. Replaced that and it worked for about 2 minutes. The fuse did not blow again and I swapped relays with the horn relay. Still no cigar. I pulled the meter out and...

AC Issues - Wiring compressor clutch to a switch

Clutch definitely needed replaced both times, but at this point I think it's fairly conclusive that there is a further issue than just "the truck has 300k miles on it". Is the diode internal? I'll pull out the meter and do some poking around. Luckily(?) It's been pretty cold since I made this...

Wonderful, thanks. I'll give them a buzz. Super kind to even have the thought, thanks! We ended up staying in the National Park last night, down in the basin seen in this picture. Their campground was nice. We were up just before sunrise and were able to go about 1/4 mile from our camp site...

When I did the UCAs on my '02 Silverado, I did the same. Those Diablo Carbide Tipped blades are all I buy any more. Worth their weight in gold.

Thanks! We made our reservation last night. We did drive a portion of the Peak to Peak Byway and hit the Gordon Gulch Trail for a couple hours on our way. We just entered the park about 15 minutes ago. While on Gordon Gulch we did find a hiking backpack with some belongings in it, looks like it...

I've lived in the Appalachian mountains my whole life. Traveled a lot on the east coast, but this is my first time West. I've never seen anything like it. Here ya go! I do intend to improve it by also running a negative battery to battery, but for the time being this will work just fine. With...

AC Issues - Wiring compressor clutch to a switch

Hi all! I'm having issues with my AC system. I =recently replaced my AC compressor clutch. Worked good a few days then the coil melted out of the new clutch. I replaced it again yesterday and no cigar. No burnt fuses or anything, but it's not cycling on. I'm on the road and don't want to take...

Wife and I got positive covid results. Our third day we seemed to be experiencing pretty mild symptoms, so we decided to make the best of our quarantine. Yesterday I installed a second battery in the Tahoe. I'll edit the post with a picture of the setup. Cut a section out of the back of an old...

    Cranked keys

They've also got replaceable ball joints instead of having to replace the whole UCA, but if you only have cranked stock keys then you don't need aftermarket UCAs. Actually probably better off without them as most aftermarket UCAs are designed for 2-4" of lift in the front, so you'd be...

Lipstick on a Pig - New Member Introduction

Thanks! I'm moderately active on a couple other forums (LandRoverForums.com, RamChargerCentral.com... more so LRF) under the same name. Always glad to find a new forum with a good community. I love this model Chevy in general. I've had 5 of them, have three currently. I also have an '02 2500HD...

No real limit to what tires you can mount on the rims. Your limiting factor is what size tire you can fit under the truck. As for that, I'll leave someone more qualified to answer. On a 3" lift I'd guess 35s could be squeezed in, but I wouldn't put money on that bet.
