2004 Denali Transmission & Other Issues

Only replace what is discovered and confirmed to be not working. Don't just go throwing new parts all over the place unless you know it is not doing what it is supposed to be doing. A lot of times a good original GM part that has been working perfectly for 20 years can still be better than a...

2004 Yukon XL (Non Flex) cranks but doesn't start.

Good point @Fless At this point, I don't think we have been able to determine if the crank position sensor was bad to begin with... I almost mentioned going back to the original sensor for now, at least until it can be determined the sensor is junk. For some reason, I didn't. Note for the OP: A...

Recalibrate for larger than stock wheels and tires

Here are menu pathing options listed for Tech 2... 2004 Yukon XL (Non Flex) cranks but doesn't start.

If this truck is a keeper (for at least a while)... There is bound to be more work to be done, I am sure. $239 (on sale from $300) will get you a Tech 2 clone from Chinacardiags.com...

2004 Yukon XL (Non Flex) cranks but doesn't start.

Changing the crank position sensor will require a "re-learn" procedure to be done for the new sensor. Do you have a Tech 2 scan tool to do that re-learn? I am not sure if other non-Tech 2 bi-directional scan tools are capable of doing the sensor re-learn or not... Possibly unrelated side note...

2004 Yukon XL (Non Flex) cranks but doesn't start.

If you got it to sputter or make any kind of noise resembling combustion... Try tossing in some Heet or Dry-gas. If parked that long, there might have been a lot of water condensation in the tank. It could be injecting enough water to cancel out the starting fluid you are spraying in to allow it...

Any good paint shops in West Palm Beach area?

I am not in that area, but I might suggest might see what is out there that a little further outside the WPB limits... See what members say, but I think rices might be a little high in the high-rent neighborhoods in and close to WPB. All those Ferraris and McLarens needing door dings and bumper...

2004 Yukon XL (Non Flex) cranks but doesn't start.

Make sure the path for the air to flow is clean and free of debris. Look for signs of acorns, bird seed, hood insulation. Check the air intake tube and the path to the throttle body. Maybe mice or Chipmunks made a home in the air box or intake manifold. Also, give everything a good visual...

    Heater Hose "T"

The connections are up high in the system, so you shouldn't lose too much. Top off the reservoir when done and check again after running a few trips at temperature, in case it burps any air out. Top off as needed. You can try to keep the loose end of the hose pointed upward (at least at an angle...

Fuel Composition Sensor (P0178) - SOLVED

At least the fuel composition sensor looks to be a relatively cheap and easy replacement.

0.020A draw, battery dying, any ideas?

Behavior described in this last post sounds a lot like symptoms you might find with bad battery clamp, cables or main ground connections.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Nice job on the rockers! I have to buy a welder and put this on my list for spring time. Did you weld in inners or just outers? What was the source for the new parts?

    2002 Tahoe wont run

Mine loosened up because I was not careful in tightening the cable bolts into the battery clamps. The lead strips out easily if over tightened... Slipping a toothpick in the threaded holes helped the bolts grip, but only for a few months. Then the cable connections loosened and began to cause...

    2002 Tahoe wont run

I started my 04 and drove a mile and parked at the burger place. Come back out, turn the key and nothing! Then I notice no interior lights, nothing on the cluster too. Turned out to be the connections on the battery clamps. Tightened just enough to get home, then the engine was dying as I pulled...

Gear ratio to hit 20 mpg or close HWY 01 Yukon XL

I just looked back at this thread and saw the thing about getting more gas when it is cool. Fuel, in most cases (except maybe airports and military bases), is stored in underground storage tanks and usually below frost lines in cold climates. The temperature of fuel pumped would remain pretty...

New Tires Soon, Gauging Interest in Other Brands

They don't carry a "3 Peaks" Severe Snow rating symbol. But the M/S or M/S2 versions of the Defender LTX tires are quality all-season tires intended for some mud and snow as the M/S letters designate and they are Michelin. There are certainly more aggressive tread patterns, and the Severe Snow...

New Tires Soon, Gauging Interest in Other Brands

I bought Michelin Defender LTX M/S. Used, not new. They were on a set of 17 rims that came off a 2010 Tahoe. They still have decent tread on them (5 mm) and they will get me into next year. The ride is fantastic! Very quiet and soaks up road defects and bumps vey well. They are a 70k mile tire...

    PO785 & P2761

Won't cost anything to take a look at wires and connectors, to see if there is any obvious damage or loose connections any where. If you can get under and look around, it is wort a shot.

2002 6.0L Yukon Denali Backfiring thru intake under load...need suggestions

Sticky valves can also do that. Exhaust valves hanging open when the fuel is ignited can make a pretty good bang in the header! I would suspect that kind of thing would show up with a cylinder reading low on the compression test...
