    Ticking/Tapping noise!

After that many miles, I would image there is a good amount of wear on the cam lobes, lifters and valve stems. A little here, a little there... Add it all up and might be enough to make a noticeable tick or tap. Sticky valve lifters can make noise like that too. If they stick a little, they...

    Rear end oil change

Thanks for that other information, but the OP's question is regarding the rear differential. If this is a G80 rear end, the G80 does not have any clutch discs and does not use any limited slip additives in the gear oil.

    Dissable TPMS

Mine says "Service Tire Pressure Monitor" on the display after every start. I just clear that from the steering wheel and go on with life. No lamps on the cluster. Maybe this is because I have had no sensors for a long time and it has driven many miles without the module getting any signals. It...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

LOL! Actually, I do have a DIC and will have give it a little more attention this summer. It is old and sometimes hard to see. The display is dim and I'll have to re-solder. I have used the Fuel button on the steering wheel to show oil life remaining on the DIC. I did not know it could reset...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

After my oil change yesterday, I decided to pull out the Tech 2 to reset the oil life monitor instead of doing the ignition/gas pedal thing... It worked fine, except I was a little annoyed that it was not a one button push operation to reset the oil life. The hot button on the bottom of the...

    Dissable TPMS

I don't get the yellow cluster warning light on mine. Just the DIC message every time I start the truck. I have no sensors at all. My rims were from a 2010 and had 2010 (incompatible) TMPS sensors on them when I got them. I just got 4 new tires. I did not want to pay for new sensors, so I had...

    Rear Defrost Time

Well GM engineers... thanks for that feature! Must be fun on a 12 hour drive in the middle of a Nor'easter. Doing the math on this hypothetical trip: 6 ten-minute defrost cycles/hr x 12 hours = 72 button hits!!! This is how I would have liked to see it set up... Once I start driving, I would...

    Rear Defrost Time

Are there programming options for increasing rear defrost time (with Tech 2 maybe)? Mine seems to be on for really short time. I haven't timed it, but is is only like 5-10 minutes, before it goes off. Winter is almost over, but it is really annoying to have to keep hitting the button on longer...

What's the SHORTEST tire GM fitted to 4-door Grand Blazers / Tahoes between '91 & '07?

Just about a month on Cooper AT3 4S on my Z71. Amazing on wet roads, snow & slush. Very grippy and confident ride. Quiet on the road too. Mine are 265/70 R17, but just wanted to confirm this particular line of Coopers seems to be a really good tire in all conditions.

Recently bought an '03 Yuk XL - Service 4WD

Pretty sure that the transfer case shift motor defaults to 2WD mode if unplugged or not getting any signal to shift. From what I have seen, switch issues are common. Can you test to see if any voltage is coming in to the switch connector? Switches are pretty cheap. Like $20 for new. Not GM...

    Dissable TPMS

I just continue to hit the button on the steering wheel to make it go away. It has to be done after every start, but I really don't care. Doesn't bother me enough to go out and get a set of new sensors. Hitting the button after startup has become part of the pre-flight procedures for me. No big...

Fresh oil makes a 5.3 happy! Oil and filter yesterday. NAPA gold 1042 (by WIX Part # 51042), NAPA synthetic blend 6qts. 5W-30 (by Valvoline Part #: 75055) for $45. Checked fluids. Added a little coolant (it might have burped another air bubble after replacing my T fitting this past summer)...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

OP had an aftermarket grille and headlight set on there, which I wasn't really keen on in my own taste. Picture below shows what was there when I got it (after I Plasti-Dipped it black). I sanded and painted the supports black before putting that grille in. It wasn't the grille so much, but...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

A PO was looking for a low-rider look and did the Z71 roof rack delete. Either that or they sold it for money. Either way it was gone. A member had one at his home in FL and was a nice guy to drive it all the way to his home in CT, so I could buy it from him and not pay $300 to ship it. I got...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

My son used matte (or semi-gloss) black Plasti-Dip on his Tacoma. It was chrome on plastic. Wiped down with WD-40 to get bugs and tar off. Washed with Dawn dish soap to get the WD-40 off and degrease. Air-dried in the sun. Applied 3 or 4 LIGHT coats until he had full coverage. That was last...

    2001 Tahoe brake light issue

If switch is good... Possible damaged wire ahead of the brake light switch making contact where it shouldn't? Maybe insulation rubbed through.

    Folding mirrors don’t fold?

Maybe the control module in the armrest can be jumped a certain way to test... One of our resident electronics experts might have a trick for that. Since neither sets of mirrors react as they should, I would probably suspect a bad module/switch in the door panel.

    2004 Tahoe rear lift gate

Sorry you got no response. This question must have slipped through the cracks... Tahoe/Suburban rear hatches would be the same. Differences are in the frame and body being stretched a bit (18" IIRC). Side doors for middle row are different because of the wheel well coming into the door on the...

What's the SHORTEST tire GM fitted to 4-door Grand Blazers / Tahoes between '91 & '07?

From my experience the ride with PPV tires sucks! In case Y'all might be wondering... It was driver's seat experience, not back in the cage. The low sidewall profile, very stiff sidewalls (for speed and cornering) and high speed-rated belts make for a kidney-busting, tooth-breaking ride! I...

Mircophones in roof of Denali making a Humming noise

I believe that pops out of the headliner if gently pried out. There are a couple of retention clips molded into the plastic holding in the headliner panel. The sensor should snap out of/into the the face plate. I didn't watch, but here is a YouTube on it... I have heard they can make that...

I was just messin' with ya... All good! Every mile counts! I checked this morning and I was 800 miles over 210,000! I missed my photo opp. about 2-3 weeks ago... I'll just have to wait until I hit 212,121!

    DRLs

I was just curious, so I took a look back at when I did my DRL conversion to LED. Sylvania seems to have designed the contacts on their bulbs in a way that ensures the contacts are in the right spot no matter which way the bulb goes in, to make it non-polarity... In the pic, you can see the...
