I’ve been through this a time or two on these gmt800 trucks. Drl can be switched without issues as has been stated. Turn signals will hyperflash when the resistance gets too low by swapping out incandescent for led. You can resolve this by replacing the stock flasher relay for one designed for...
Actually the lower shaft did resolve a rotational clunk feel (not to be confused with the intermediate shaft clunk - usually noticed over bumpy/rough roads), but this lower shaft unfortunately did NOT resolve my sloppy steering. I ended up replacing the Steering gear box and pump with PSC...
any updates here? I have an 04 Yukon with same behavior. I put a new bottom element in the driver seat but no difference. I haven't tried to unplug the back element to isolate it. But passenger seat seems to be functional. Just curious if unplugging the element made a difference for you...
They are pricing it due to 3/4, 4x4 and 8.1 which is pretty rare. Then the 30k miles they are using as an ax use for charging $15k over what it probably should be priced at (IF it was maintained properly!). At that point miles is good for judging wear and tear on interior and such, should have...
Tech 2 is the dealer tool. Lots of China knockoffs. Just do the research to find a good reseller.
Otherwise you might have good luck with a Bluetooth reader like BlueDriver. It’s about $100 on Amazon. And while you don’t get full diagnostics you can read codes from different modules in...
Not sure how the ride control system works on the 2011 but if there’s a fault code it might not let it operate. Might have to clear the fault code in the ride control module.

I’ve got an 04 2500 XL that I tow different trailers pretty regularly 1500-7500#. The heaviest was my car/equipment trailer with an 07 2500HD crew cab pickup. Probably weighed near 10k as my trailer unloaded is 2500lb. No porpoising effect that I recall. It can bounce at times in rough...
I’ve got an 04 Yukon with this same setup. It uses a Borg Warner BW4482 transfer case. It’s a full time transfer case with a low range and utilizes a planetary gear set. Unfortunately ours is making some howling noise so it will need some work eventually. But it’s been doing this for ~20k miles...
It WAS an 8.1. It's got an LBZ Duramax/Allison in it now. Hence the body lift to clear the intercooler.
Good point on the torque specs. Steering, brakes and suspension are important things to adhere to torque specs for.
Thanks for this info. I’ve been trying to track down a similar issue after placing the intermediate shaft, column bearing, steering box, idler, pitman and tie rod ends I still had this slop. I’ll try the lower shaft as well. During my research I came across another part number for this lower...
It’s likely sensing tongue weight on the rear suspension. Keep in mind that “tow ratings” are just a marketing number. You should have a yellow sticker in the driver door jam that gives a specific cargo carrying capacity that your vehicle (with its options) can legally carry. From that number...
Wow. Yeah I haven’t seen that in an OEM wheel. If seen after markets crack quite often but never a true oem. I wonder if that wheel was an aftermarket remake. I believe it should say on the back side where it was made. GM used to have all wheels made in US or Canada. Not sure about newer...
It’s not the same as the 1500. But it is very similar to the early (2000-2002) 2500 Sierra.
I was looking into this a while back and there’s not much info. There used to be a winch mount that fit behind the stock bumper but it was hard to track down. I think warn made it but it was only...
Nice rig! I love ours and don’t see us looking to replace it until I’m forced with no other option. This truck replaced my dually and I haven’t looked back.
The gmt800/900 k2500 burb/xl is one of the most solid platforms around. Hope you enjoy it!
As for your tire question:

these are a little far from you but clean California rigs.

I looked for nearly 2 years before I found mine out in Colorado but it lived in the southwest for most of its life. No rust had 187k with the 8.1 but the gal had it serviced at the dealer every 6 months like clockwork. I paid $8600 if I remember correctly. They do come around but there’s a...
I’d be checking for air as mentioned before. But might check water pump as well. I’ve had a brand new water pump that when it got warm, it the plastic impeller would soften and start slipping on the metal shaft and of course the engine would overheat unless you were moving at 50+ Mph.

Exactly what I did. I went from my 06 CrewCab Dually to the 04 Yukon XL. Honestly haven't really missed the truck. I picked up a military cargo trailer for those truck bed run (dump, firewood, etc) and its been great. Really liking the room in the yukon.
hoenstly your not hurting anything by leaving it on the entire trip.
The trans computer is smart enough to adjust its shift behavior based on driving style and other factors (such as load, temp, etc).
If you notice the trans having to shift or downshift occasionally, then I'd leave it on. As...
to me this seems more than just an overfilled tcase? or leaking seal between trans and tacse, if thats possible. It seems something is keeping fluid separate from top to bottom? I have no idea how thats possible but what you explained has me trying to convince myself something between the top...
Hey guys sorry. Been a busy month or so and for some reason Tapatalk stopped alerting me of notifications for this forum. I can be available this week in the evening either Wednesday or Thursday or next weekend on Saturday afternoon I have some time also.
Just to be clear I am not mechanic...
