    Tech 2...

Most of the vehicle electrics are still working. Interestingly, the ignition switch, when turned to the "on" position will now allow the windows to operate, the gauges to come alive and the heater to work whereas before, none of this was possible. That result is through no effort on my part...

Finally ordered a tech2! Need help

I hoping there is still something remaining in the computer. As for cranking it over, yes, I can remove the start enable relay ( in the fuse/relay centre under the hood) and put 12 volts to the outgoing terminal. That will engage the starter. I can't do it otherwise as the start enable relay is...

Finally ordered a tech2! Need help

I had posted over in another thread where you had asked a question regarding the scanner. "A question regarding the Tech 2 scanner. What functions can it perform with a vehicle that doesn't run? I started a thread about my 06 Tahoe that has a no start, no crank, no anything problem. Would a...

    Tech 2...

A question regarding the Tech 2 scanner. What functions can it perform with a vehicle that doesn't run? You may recall Swath, the thread about my 06 Tahoe that has a no start, no crank, no anything problem. Would a Tech 2 allow a look into the PCM to see what isn't connected? Vis a vis, a...

No crank/start/anything condition with radio also in locked mode.

Where is the best resource to find all of the locations for the grounding circuits for the PCM? I've checked the usual websites and online sources however most seem available by subscription. Anyone have any links? Maybe there's a specific OEM manual other than buying the entire set of books...

PCM Ground Circuits and Locations Wanted

Nothing? Am I limited to Auto Zone and their collection of schematics? If I have to take out a subscription to get decent drawings, does anyone have a recommendation?

No crank/start/anything condition with radio also in locked mode.

I haven't worked on the tuck much (if at all) over the past few weeks as I've been away however I do have something interesting to report. For whatever reason, the last time I went about my normal testing routine, which is really not much more than inserting the key, the gauges all came back to...

No crank/start/anything condition with radio also in locked mode.

I found a local technician that has a loan of one. It'll be whenever he gets over to my place. Hopefully in the next day or so. A further update: When attempting to do a Passkey recovery, the dash function doesn't stay on long enough. While the initial turn to the ON position results in the...

No crank/start/anything condition with radio also in locked mode.

Another update: For whatever reason, I've regained full functionality of the dash instruments. I did nothing extraordinary except go away for two weeks. Now, when the key is first inserted, I get a door chime, tuned to the ACC position, I get the radio and power windows, the ON position makes...

No crank/start/anything condition with radio also in locked mode.

I've replaced the electrical portion of the switch however it's difficult to tell if it's indexed correctly. I can get full range of motion with the switch and reach the spring back portion of the start position however this does nothing with respect to starting. Still no crank nor is there a...

No crank/start/anything condition with radio also in locked mode.

I can't even get that far. The dash isn't functioning as it should and hasn't since this (newest) problem started. Just checked that out. I've found a lot of wiring info on-line however I suspect I may have to go deeper and eventually pay for what I need. Looks like a promising web-site. Thanks.

No crank/start/anything condition with radio also in locked mode.

I'll be interested in reading your results. As for me, this is what I figure. If I can remove this engine and the complete wiring harness and drop it into another chassis, like my 86 Camaro for example, and get it to run as has been done literally thousands of times by others, then I should be...

No crank/start/anything condition with radio also in locked mode.

The PCM provides the ground to drive the relay coil (across 85 and 86). The removed the relay altogether and supplied 12 volts to the terminal 30 socket (the output from the relay to the starter solenoid).

No crank/start/anything condition with radio also in locked mode.

Perfect sense. It's think it's my description that was a little unclear. With the plastic switch removed form the lock cylinder (and with the wiring harness attached) I can rotate the white gear and not effect any change on the dash. Obviously there's more to it than I had guessed. At any rate...

No crank/start/anything condition with radio also in locked mode.

I had thought about the indexing and it's very difficult to tell what's aligned and what isn't. That said, with the switch itself removed from the lock cylinder assembly, I can rotate the "gear" portion. There is a segment in the rotation where the momentary contact (or spring loaded to return)...

By way of an update, seeing as I can bypass the start enable relay and get the to turn over and bypass the fuel pump relay and initiate the pump (or at least hear it) is leading me to believe the current problem is something I've created with my testing. The ignition switch and associated wiring...

$350 CDN actually plus brokerage but I see your point. I hadn't shopped at the U.S. on-line retailer. Nearest thing I found on a Canadian sight was on Amazon. That's $550...

It's finding someone that's proving difficult. I am little wary of the dealership. At $180+/hr, it wouldn't take a technician long to rack up enough time for me to purchase a replacement vehicle altogether. I'm in agreement with ground fault and BCM. Most symptoms point to that. I've only...

No crank/start/anything condition with radio also in locked mode.

I've got a scan tool although it's not a Tech 2. And from what GM tells me, when I visited their service counter and spoke with a senior tech, that I've disconnected the battery along the way and also re and re'd the PCM, any codes would be lost. That's what with my scanner says too...

Checked all of the fuses and relays. Flipped the fuse block upside down to look for possible problems there as well. From a corrosion standpoint, everything looks good. Any testing I've done done (as in jumping over the negative cable with a booster cable from the battery to the block), adding a...

By the way, that starting circuit schematic has been very helpful. Is there one that's similar that shows all of the circuits related to the ignition switch? Despite coming back to a truck (after two weeks away) and finding all electrics dead, I can't help but think that replacing the ignition...

No crank/start/anything condition with radio also in locked mode.

I had gone through your wiring diagrams, the one related to the starting circuit specifically, and saw a few things I have to investigate. The neutral safety switch being one of them. There is also another ground up on the passenger side frame that I should look at. If I have to, I'll rewire...
