Is this normal for a rear diff

@Doubeleive I had it jacked up so I could check for loose ujoints and pinion. So everything in the video is to be expected?

Is this normal for a rear diff

Chasing down a shake above 75mph and so I figured I’d take a look at the rear diff. I’ve never inspected it before so I’m not sure if this is normal or not Thoughts?

    Need help with loose steering

Recently it seems like my Tahoe has become very squirrely on the road and I can’t seem to find where it’s coming from. I replaced the wheel bearings and upper ball joints recently, I know that I have a lower ball joint with a little play in it but I don’t know if that’s the cause. There isn’t...

    Front HVAC blower motor intermittent

@02Lightning I had a similar problem recently and I thought it was the resistor because when I smacked it the motor would come back on. It turned out to be the blower motor

    2013 Yukon Engine Knock...

@jmo2610 The hard part is finding a shop that will fix it right or remove AFM completely. I've heard too many stories of someone spending $3k+ to have the same problem immediately because the AFM system wasn't removed

    2013 Yukon Engine Knock...

@jmo2610 That's almost certainly a lifter failure. Time to stop running it and work on tearing the motor apart to find the cause of the problem. You could try to free the lifter but the problem will come back, it's best to replace all those worn parts with fresh non-AFM parts.

3.5 rough country lift with rough country 3.5 lifted struts instead of the spacers. Anyone have this lifted set up on 2011 tahoe?

It might be better to get the lift with the spacers and purchase some bilsteins to go along with it. Probably worth passing up on the lift all together and investing in a really good set of shocks instead like Fox

Crankshaft position sensor went bad can it get me home?

The ECU might go into limp mode to protect the motor. I don’t think you’ll hurt the motor I’m more thinking that it won’t be drivable in this condition but if you think you can limp it home it might not be a big deal

Engine missing in 5th gear 1500 rpm

Some OBD 2 readers can show misfire data per cylinder but I don't know how accurate that info is

    Rear AC blowing hot

@FINALTOUCHFRI I been living with the rear AC not working, the front is AC pretty f-ing powerful so just point the 2 vents above the radio towards the back and it will get the job done

2012 Tahoe needs a new engine

I had the same problem when the lifter failed in my Tahoe, no shop wanted to fix the problem they just wanted to throw a new motor in it and leave the AFM. I ended up fixing it myself and removing AFM parts on the process. That was about 20k miles ago still going strong

Dustin Jacksons 2008 Chevy Tahoe Build Thread

Quick update: At the beginning of June I became aware of some play in the front suspension and discovered that the wheel bearings, upper ball joints, and front diff were going bad. I used this opportunity to remove the lift spacers and wheel spacers. I took my CV axles apart and am running...

@donjetman How long did you run that mix of VPB and oil for? Your results are pretty convincing.

    Farewell lifted Tahoes

@OR VietVet After I get a chance to put some miles on it I’ll update you but I agree I expect it to ride better. haven’t driven it until I can get an alignment

    Farewell lifted Tahoes

@Trey Hardy I might go with a lift again eventually, I like the height of 3 inches of lift but there are no kits that address the lower control arm angle for 3 inches. I have a 94 k1400 that I am going to make into my off road rig I think

    Farewell lifted Tahoes

@Marky Dissod I have Moog 81244 springs in the front and 81069 in the rear so it is still probably a bit taller than the average Tahoe but from the angles of the suspension now it looks a lot more comfortable within factory geometry, hopefully it rides a little nicer now.

    Farewell lifted Tahoes

It was nice knowing all the good people here but I regret to inform you that I have unlifted my Tahoe. My setup, while great, wasn’t perfect and with the ball joints in my Rough Country forged upper control arms going out I decided to take this opportunity to remove the lift. I ended up going...

    Is my front diff toast?

@Fless Yes I've participated in some of those debates and from my personal experience, the 4WD hub is a solid tube of metal from the inside to the outside but while I don't think it's needed I would rather be safe than sorry lol. By the way I got one of my CV axles apart and it seems to use a...

    Is my front diff toast?

@OR VietVet That's the plan for now, I just use this Tahoe to commute to work and I've heard rumors that if you run 4WD without the CV the Hub will fall apart so they say to just run the tip of the CV axle that goes through the hub
  22. Dustin Jackson

    Is my front diff toast?

@OR VietVet My goal is to just run the CV shafts through the hubs as 2WD and not use the front diff

08 Tahoe Rear AC not blowing cold

@denalianyone I have not fixed this problem yet, the front is able to cool the entire well enough for now.

    Is my front diff toast?

Can someone send me the link to the video that shows you how to take the CV shaft stubs out so that I can disconnect the front diff? I found a bad ball joint so this weekend I’m going to be removing the lift from the Tahoe and removing the CV axles too and just running it 2wd for now. I don’t...

    Is my front diff toast?

@Doubeleive I will check that, is there any reason why it only makes the sound when turning the passenger side? The driver side sounds fine.
