Explain to her at 150k it's not done yet. I see you're in NY - have it sprayed with fluid film and keep up with the body and it should continue to be a good truck for time to come.
Came here to say this - this is the route I went with an '09 LTZ 6.2 a little over a year ago. '08 Tahoe LTZ also had 6.2 option, but it was rwd only. 09 was nice in that you could get it in 4WD with the 6.2 L9H. '09 was also flex fuel which is a nice perk - even though the mileage goes down...
Any willingness from GM to offer a complimentary extended warranty on it? Your experience sounds incredibly frustrating. Usually V8 engines are a bright spot for GM products, from a quality perspective.
Was able to hunt one down sooner than I thought! Found a really nice one out of a '14 Tahoe! I have clockspring 25966964 on order, so should have everything I need to give it a go in my '09. This wheel is actually in a little better shape than my current wheel, so that's awesome.

Thanks for the info! Good news is that spring is around the corner, meaning this is already looking like a summer project anyway. So, have some time to be patient. If fall rolls around, I might be willing to be more open to other colors to gain that functionality for next cold season.

Thanks! Called a dealer and looks like every single new steering wheel in the country was purchased and have been on backorder ever since with no ETA. So probably need to keep an eye out for a gently used wheel if I’m going to make the project happen.
I was quoted around $3,300 for remove, rebuild, and replace at a local shop. I believe a GM reman can be had for around that much after returning core and before labor costs to remove/install.
