Are you referring to the front axles or the axle from the transfer case to the front differential?
Have you checked the drivers side control arm bushings?
Shake the exhaust by drivers side catalytic converter? When they go out some times the internals break up and make noises.
I'm not sure what the spec's are for that cam but from experience a cam, tune and dod delete will get you worst milage than before. I have never heard anyone get 23 mpg on a 6spd tranny. My stock yukon on 32" tires gets 13mpgs. So 12.5 with your set up is about the best you are going to get.
If you used clamps you should have a least used the heavy duty stainless steel clamps not the autozone junk. Like others said, hose looks to short and there is sharp edges that vibration can cut the hose.
I have had the cooler several years and have never had any leaks or hoses bust. My cooler...

I had the same thing happen to my son's truck...
If I'm reading this correctly the spec's are 221/24X, .619/.617, 113 LSA.
A higher LSA will have a less choppy idle and give you less surging at red lights. With a lower LSA you get that cam chop everyone likes. Fctory cams are closer to the 114 / 115 LSA.
Higher LSA is used with blowers...
I don't know much about those 8.1 engines but have heard they are good to 250k miles. A friend of mine bought a 2500 silverado several years ago and had several small issues.
It would burn a quarter of oil every 5k miles and it devop a lifter tick. If you do end up getting one, try to get a low...
