I was thinking maybe a scope might be neccessary. I have had a total of four different alternator's on the truck so I do think that's it. My Yukon is pretty rusty underneath including the engine block so I'm wondering if somehow that's connected to the issue.
It's constant and gets worse with increasing RPM's..Its a thousand times better after cleaning the corrosion and replacing battery cables but still noticeable. Goes away completely when disconnecting the alternator by removing the two pin plug on the back and running off of the battery.
I had to plug it back in this morning. Voltage dropped below 12 volts when I started it up according to the dash gauge. The engine definitely idles differently when the plug is plugged in. At least we have something to chase now.
So I had some residual flickering with the Yukon after cleaning all the corrosion. Went out and pulled the two pin connector and lights are rock solid. Not a single flicker. Also no Check engine light yet with the connector unplugged. Thanks to @mikez71 diagram looks like it runs right to the...
Don't forget about the o- ring on the oil pickup tube in the oil pan. Notorious for going bad and causing low oil pressure. As far as I know oil pumps rarely fail.
Pretty sure 2011 Escalade definitely has AFM. The quotes on the manifold bolts seems way inflated. I know some shops speculate that the manifolds are warped causing the bolt problems so sometimes they include new manifolds in the quote. ARP has bolt/stud kits that last forever for around $100...
Any chance they want to watch a bunch of YouTube and D.I.Y some of the repairs? I would say it's definitely worth repairing but at those miles a lot of small issues are going to start popping up and if they're going to bring it to a shop every time it's gonna add up quick. And that's if your...
Open the passenger door and on the side of the dash there is a pull panel just like the one over the fuse box on the drivers side. Behind that panel is a junction box for all sorts of things. I found corrosion on the bottom connector which is battery and ground.
I'm thinking if the roller detonated while the engine was running there is going to be quite of bit of internal damage to the cam, bearings and maybe crankshaft? Looks like he only found half the roller so the other half is somewhere up in the engine. The rocker for that lifter should...
Just make sure you order the correct one for you year. GM used multiple different designs, my 08 Yukon and 10 Suburban have two different setups and neither look like what you have.
