I have a Thinktool Pros (2020 Vintage).. it has a lot of bi-directional capability and module/key programming capability. It usually tracks the capabilities of the OE scan suite closely... good to know Tech2 can see fuel pressure...
I'll need to check that location...
It may be a tight fit but even the line coming off the regulator may not be a bad place either... but then I worry about leaks so it has to be a good job. The fuel pressure is an order of magnitude higher than what I'm used to !!
2002 may be too old but...
No issues on this Yukon. I bought this Yukon 2 weeks ago with only 89K miles and it still had the original factory filter. Figured it was about time the filter was changed.... (since the pump has to work harder to push through a restriction...) on my old trucks I have an in-line fuel pressure...
Yes Car Wizard did sort of a number on the OBS... about how hard it is to service A/C, and also the 5.7 Vortec being just a bit more hard to service vs. the 5.3....
Another point to consider is insurance. If you kept the 99 you can insure it with Hagerty. Cheap $350 /yr for full coverage. Your other 2 wouldn’t qualify as they are not classic trucks yet.
Dallas TX here. My 84 pickup and 78 Suv have been my daily drivers until I bought myself the 2002 this month. 84 pickup has no AC and it is NO FUN. I drove 2 weeks ago to Tulsa and back and I must have drank 6-8 bottles of water. Sweated a lot. Never needed a "comfort break" so that was a good...
I'm trying to find a stock used radio on eBay for my 2002 GMC Yukon
Per this video it looks like I will need to call a number and obtain a code... which is fine..
But is the radio programmed to the VIN? In which case my eBay radio may not work, unless I can get it reprogrammed.
Any advice on...
Fuel pump control module? Wonder why a module is needed to control that little fuel pump ? A single Bosch-style relay actuated by voltage through an oil pressure switch is all that was needed to run a fuel pump ... I have always just carried a spare relay or even a spare fuel pump on road...
Bring in a trade-in really confuses the heck out of all this pricing. :2cents:
When we bought our 2024 Z71 it was advertised 5K MSRP... I'm quite sure we could have negotiated about 8K off MSRP... but we were instead made beyond-whole on the trade-in so much so that our trade-in is still on...
I got in there and saw that everything looked too clean to not work. So I pressed the tow haul button a bunch of times and now it works. I’m gonna guess the button/switch itself developed some kind of contact resistance since it has never been used in the 22 years and 89k miles ? :hmm:
Update...
I’ve only had to remove dash and steering columns a dozen times on classic trucks for various reasons/restorations… but those are low complexity vehicles… I am not looking forward to doing this on a 2002 year model with all the plastic that can break .. but sounds like that won't be a problem in...
Thanks for this information. I'll see if the fuses are present already, if not go ahead and add them. I have a good stock of various mini fuses.
I'm usually quick to act and figure things out...
Just in no hurry to tow anything yet :rotflmao::sleepy:
No I haven't done that. I had assumed all necessary fuses would be in place but good to know I'll need to do that. I was going to run up to a UHAUL nearby to test but I can probe out for voltage myself I suppose with the various lighting positions. (The 7 pin harness should be generic so I'll...
Added a factory tow hitch on my recently acquired low mileage 2002 Yukon. It had the harness tucked underneath with a factory installed plug.
The tow / haul button on the column shifter didn’t do anything when I checked it a couple days ago but hopefully it does now… (if it doesn’t I saw...
Yeah I live and work in that area...
Yes it is unbelievable how many of these show up for sale with over 200k miles. I saw a few of them in the last month or so... as far as I can know the drivetrain in indestructible (pre-AFM LS engine, 4L60E), maybe some electrical gremlins in these year...
Hey there neighbor!!
I'm in the North Dallas area (Richardson), how about you?
I am very much enjoying the size of this Yukon. About 198" length, fits in my short driveway just fine and leaves me room to back out my other garaged truck. Many other full size cars couldn't fit in that area.
Added a 2002 Yukon 2WD with the 5.3 Vortec to the family. This low mileage one showed up … has 89k original miles … this will be one of my daily drivers. After driving 70s and 80s carbed trucks for a while this 2002 feels like a technological marvel.
