I was thinking of trying to flush the pan with tranny fluid or motor oil. If the front cover is off, you could technically dump fluid down the pan right where the oil pump is and have your drain plug off so it drains into a catch pan. I think that would get a lot of it out. I am worried about...
Hey guys,
My Yukon xl had a lifter take a dump and eat the cam at 254k miles. Once my tax money comes in, I am going to tear it down to the short block and replace everything and rebuild the cylinder heads. I have been doing a lot of research on the repair and have been looking at what to do in...
That sounds nice and would be cool to do, but the nearest junkyard from me is 220 miles away. Plus I don’t have the resources or the best area to swap in a motor and the nearest gm dealer is 68 miles away too.
okay cool. The budget for tearing the engine down to the short block doesn’t allow for a tune so doing this would be some sort of upgrade over stock. I have a cai on the truck so it might help that mod.
Hey guys. I have looked all over the internet for this answer and cannot find it. I did for sure find that an lq9 cam in a lm7 will cause it to stall out while idling with the ac on without a proper tune. The thing is the motor ate a lifter and took the cam with it and I plan on replacing...
So I was driving around today and this issue does not occur in reverse. Only in drive. I am going to rule out driveline stuff and tranny issues. At idle in park it is a little rough. I am thinking the plugs are worn and the wires are worn since I have no idea when they were last changed. It...
We took it out today to the store. She thinks it’s misfiring. Doesn’t want me to fix it. She just wants me to keep changing the oil and rotate tires lol.
I do hear an exhaust pipe popping sound when the truck is in park idling. It’s always done this since I got it in February this year. Did yours do the same thing as well for the torque converter bolts? I also have a leaking axle seal I noticed the other day when changing the oil on front...
That is one of my guesses too because I know those plugs need to be changed. We will find out if that was the cause in a few months. I have a baby on the way soon so I don’t have time right now.
Nevada uses a salt brine on their roads. We did drive it on the highway during all the snow we got. The calibers have some rust on them. More than my previous all AZ their whole life vehicles have ever had.
I just looked at it lol. I noticed the idle is a little rougher in park. But I am trying to rule out worn spark plugs for that case. How bad should vibration feel on a worn motor mount? I know I should do the pop the hood and see how bad the motor jerks test.

I have no idea. It doesn’t make any noise or anything weird like that of a stick caliber, but who knows. This truck does 97% highway driving so idk how the brakes could do this when they are seldomly used.
All my belts, tensions, and idler pulleys are good because I replaced them all this year so I know it’s not those. I was kind of wondering it is motor or trans mounts as well since I am sure they are original and the truck has 252k on it. The trans mount looked fine to me when I inspected it a...
