    In the market

It was a GT, its not hard to tell the difference. obviously the driver was a moron, but the road was also wet-ish, and we were headed downhill. I didn't ask to race him, he tried for three red-lights. I also let off at 65. now if we had lined up on an official quarter, with real lights, and...

    In the market

I keep meaning to make an actual post about it, but time continues to get away from me. I love everything about the truck. It’s a 3 ton hot rod, and it gets hard to keep your foot out of it sometimes. It also is just rumbly enough that people constantly want to “race” it. (So far beat a 2018...

Tahoe OR Escalade and the yukon looks funny

The 6.2 in the Tahoe is tuned down from its Escalade and Yukon counterparts of the same year, although a new tune would easily change that. There are only a limited amount of them because they started building them the year the economy crashed, and the GM plant they were made at in Texas went...

Tahoe OR Escalade and the yukon looks funny

Just went through this dilemma. FWIW I went with the 6.2 awd Escalade in premium trim. The 2013 was the same price or less as a similar equipped (LTZ) Tahoe. Around town in the 30 redlighta I drive through a day I get 12-14. But on the road, interstate etc I can easily get over 18mpg. And...

    That looks pretty great actually.

Cat eyes, and front end swaps

Should be the same. Only difference was the Silverado had the bumper lights and headlights separated by a body panel, and esky had them as one large piece. Yeah, I think I’m gonna just do it. Worst case scenario, I don’t like the way it looks, I’ll just replace it again, eventually.

Cat eyes, and front end swaps

Gah, I don’t know why, but I just dig the way that looks. Color matched grill in white always looks good. Those one piece headlights would be exactly what I wanted if the leds ran horizontal even with the center of the grill. And yeah 01-02hd does look good, but I’m having a lot more trouble...

    05 Tahoe Shock recommendations

I’m gonna assume that’s actually ZW7, which means it’s a special “auto-leveling” shock in the rear, hence the added cost. Replacing with any brand will be similarly expensive. I suggest to start here: https://www.shockwarehouse.com/news/gm-suv-suspension-decoder.cfm My personal suggestion is...

Yeah, hi-flow filter and AirAid MIT are already on their way to the house. Gonna do a full flush and fill, and full rundown/clean of engine, plugs and wires. After that, it’s saving up for AFM delete, new cam, and tune.

    In the market

It’s almost TOO fancy for me, but I love it. The 6.2 has some serious “put your ass in the seat” power. I tromped it one time and I swear if it had been any harder the front wheels would’ve come off the ground. So far so good, gonna give her a good once over this weekend, and a little TLC...

Cat eyes, and front end swaps

Lol, sorry to leave you solo, I was trying to have an imagination about it without those open grills. *if* the goal is to ultimately make it look more like the new Tahoe, those one piece headlights might work. But I lack photoshop skills to render it. The more I look at it though, the more...

Cat eyes, and front end swaps

The more I look at it, the more I like it. The SS bumper really fixes a lot of the bumper issues I have. I mean, my truck has no front right now, the deer saw to that. I’ve got to replace everything down to the radiator supports. I have found a complete front clip for a decent price, but this...

Cat eyes, and front end swaps

Yeah, I liked it specifically because the grill made it look more like the new Tahoe, and especially the RST

Cat eyes, and front end swaps

I think it only looks good with the HD grill color matched, otherwise there’s no reason not to use the 01-02 HD grill/bumper, IMO My current pondering is if I could cobble together the bumper, color matched, grill color matched, and bumper lights, with standard top lights, and standard hood...

That head on pic looks great, from the side it looks like a mistake, lol. I’ve got some time, just gotta find some parts, but I might try to make that grille/bumper combo work.

Cat eyes, and front end swaps

As a rule, I pretty much dislike the “cat-eye” headlights, and the way the whole front comes together on the silverados from 03-06. Honestly the lines in the nbs tahoe front (and the silverados before cat eye) are just so much cleaner, and look like a better built truck. But while searching for...

    In the market

No doubt it can. But the 6.2 can handle more, so I’m not NEAR the max weight under load. Plus I’ll be pulling up mountains, etc. It’s not so much about needing more to do, but wanting more to do it easier!

    In the market

After much deliberation, and the guy selling the Yukon being a little too proud of the truck (and a little disingenuous about rust) we settled on the Escalade. The Dadillac will be here soon... Ps @HiHoeSilver I guess you’re gonna have to upgrade soon! ;)
