I'm pretty sure the shocks are the same for the short body and long body. But like Tony said, I would just get new shocks. I had the same problem and I just replaced the shocks with regular shocks and had the same highway experience tony talked about. Finally got some Z71 springs with Bilsteins...
We just put a shut off on my dad's 97 when it started draining. Too lazy to actually get it fixed. So every time he parked he popped the hood, shut off the battery, and then turned it back on when he came back. It was a quick fix but it worked for what we needed.
I also got a new Flowmaster Super 10 put on for $150. I just went to see my options, but the guy was able to fit me in and put it on in about an hour. Came home to get a good video and set off the alarm on the '96.
New plugs and wires. Passenger rear is a *****.
Also fixed my horn. A piece of plastic had broken off and was interfering with the connection. Easy fix, took <15 minutes
