Mine does it too. Rear doors more than the front. Probably because the rear doors don't get used as much. Try some penetrating oil first and get the noise to go away then add some graphite and keep working it to get the oil to take the graphite in. See if that works longer.
Just for reference to show where the cracks were in the transfer case. Where the ribs meet the case at the machined section. I know it ain't pretty but it don't leak anymore and should be OK until I replace it.
Thanks for the comments.
I would like to determine where the vibration is before the new transfer case goes in so as not to crack it too if possible. I think it is the transfer case doing it but I kinda wanted to prove it so I know. Even though the weights are still on the drive shafts you...
Thanks for the input.
Vibration did not change when I went from factory tires and rims in excellent condition to the new 20" set I have on now.
T Case was cracked at the ribs below the 4WD motor/actuator.
Trans has never been into except to change the filter.
Factory angle up front and slightly...
OK, I have done some searching but nothing really gets me to where I need to be with info on this. I don't drive my Yukon XL much, about 5000 miles a year. I noticed a vibration at 65-75 MPH about 2 years ago. Very small but noticeable and has not gotten any worse. This past summer I saw oil on...
Definitely doing this mod in the spring. No leaks but I am always a quart or more low at each oil change. Doesn't seem to be burning oil but this is the only thing I can see happening to justify the oil being low.
Thanks for the info and the video. I'm not quite ready to cut on it yet but maybe in the future when rust starts to come thru. Just part of living in Wisconsin. Again, your ride looks AWESOME!! Great work personalizing it and making it your own.
Awesome job on the flares. So the front fit and the rear fit except for the doors.
Question, so I would not need to alter them for my Yukon XL?
You only had to alter them for the rear door?
Sorry for not getting back to you. I have been out of town and work is killing me. That is a little much for me but thanks for the feed back. It's not unreasonable, but I've been looking at the rebuilt ones on ebay with free shipping at around $700 with a warranty. If I was closer and could pick...
Can't wait to see the end result. I have been looking for some big flares for mine but haven't found anything I like and nothing big. Would like to know what you used and how you modified them to fit.
Just wanted to add that I had to change out the size and position of some of the clamps so that the anti lock cable had the room to not bind up when turning full lock to lock. If someone uses these they need to pay close attention to the slack and make sure they don't damage their brake lines...
Thanks erbear28, I will look them up. A link would be appreciated.
Thanks, Do you need resisters also to use them Tonyrodz?
These are my tail lights. They are slightly tinted which is one of the reasons the lights are dim.
Got a bunch of city driving in today. I am pretty sure that next summer I will upgrade my brakes to the nnbs on the front and better pads and rotors on the back.
OK, question.......I have read a lot about bulbs and stuff but I don't want to get to complicated about this. I really like my tail...
