    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

Oh how could I forget the suspension setup. It’s fairly simple. Front: stock spring. Stock length strut. Drop spindles. Struts flipped to the bottom of the control arm with a 1” spacer. DJM upper arms Rear: 6” drop spring. A metric ton in audio. Lots and lots of cutting. spohn panhard bar

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

This is a VERY condense version of the progress of this truck. I have thousands of pictures I’ve taken along the way so if you want to see more pictures of anything else, just ask

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

This is the current status of the truck. Tried fitting 28’s but I’d need to do a TON of work to make them fit and remain static. Narrowed front control arms and a big firewall tub is what I’d need to do. A big part of me wants to do it but I’m still on the fence I bought a 08 Escalade ESV for a...

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

The windshield started leaking so I had it pulled thinking the seal had torn. Boy was I wrong. Luckily I have a badass welder buddy across from my work so he took care of all that for me. Also had a couple of small speaker tops powder coated to match the ones in the rear

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

Truck sat like this for over a year now. I’m very content with the way the audio part of the truck is

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

Finally got the 22’s I’ve always wanted. Also decided to do the back doors and add some more smaller amps since I added 14 more speakers

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

Some more upgrades to the stereo. Went from two 5k amps on the subs to two 8k amps. Ran it across the scales just out of curiosity

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

I pretty much live at the junkyard and absolutely score these 26” Dub Baller’s for $500. They didn’t last long on the truck because I hated the 40 point turns I had to make due to them hitting the firewall

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

Got sick of the grey interior so I bought black interior out of an avalanche for $1200

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

Roof swapped and found a cool color for the inside of the box

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

Did the Escalade cluster and ran into problems with the roof ripping so I swapped the roof for a non sunroof one. I did about 3/8” of sound deadener because putting the new roof on. Much easier this way

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

This is how the truck sat for about 6 months then I did some more upgrades

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

Shortly after that I had the frame notched in preparation for the big build to come. Covered the windows in insulation and rerouted the rear ac to the back of the truck

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

went from 3 15’s to 4 15’s and the next day the DOD lifters locked up on the truck. Tore the engine down and rebuilt it

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

Ran into electrical issues so I tore everything out and ended up lowering the truck and doing a much smaller stereo setup. Also found some super cheap 24’s with tiny tires. Ended up breaking a wheel in less than 1 mile

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

Immediately put what was at the time the biggest stereo I’ve done

    Doug118’s “that poor Suburban”

Let’s start from the beginning. This is going to be just a few pictures from each “phase” of the truck. Started as a $2700 bone stock auction score. 220k miles. Was repo’d from the previous owner and only ended up needing a water pump

    The KidWagon

That’s what I was thinking. I’ve had no vibration issues. Only thing that’s happened to my truck driveline wise is my trans has a slow drip now, probably from the driveshaft being stuffed into the trans and messing up the seal

    The KidWagon

Anything is better than the situation I have going on right now. I have ~1” between the tire and front of the quarter panel with the 22’s. The 28’s are about 1/8” away

    The KidWagon

I would LOVE a simple set of fixed length extended upper and lowers with poly bushings at each end. I had spherical bushings in my mustang and absolutely hated every second of driving that car because of them

    The KidWagon

Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT try to roll the fenders on our trucks. I attempted to roll them when I did 26’s but completely ****** them so I cut the entire inner fender out

    The KidWagon

I ended up welding mine after that single bolt came loose

    The KidWagon

I didn’t read through the first few pages but do you have the trailing arm relocation brackets already? There shouldn’t be a pinion angle issue. I would measure it now and make it exactly the same when you change the arms I personally would remove both bottom arms, measure them, then make the...
