I'm wondering why this was moved out of PPV?
I believe this is more likely and possible to be police vehicle related than civilian vehicle. Police equipment that may have gone bad or something related?
Not nearly as bad on the passenger side.
I think your right about the electronics. It looks alot like battery corrosion.
I am chiseling, scraping with a wire brush and using a warm wet rag to dissolve this crap.
The wiring harness that runs in the sill is covered. Paints rusting.
I'll post...
I was cleaning my interior and decided to pull the sill plates on the drivers door area and found an enormous amount of what appears to be road salt. As if it was trampled in on the feet of the driver or it's a form of corrosion or something else. I really have no idea what this is and if anyone...

The description notes that the camera mounts upside down. I'm going to grab power at the tailight reverse light wire, then run...
I removed mine w/o removing the rear wiper motor. Wasn't easy. I didn't see any loctite. I'm going to put an aftermarket cam there and the screen that's built into a rear view mirror and that clips on your factory mirror.
I'm thinking Belltech and Eibach also make replacements for the small fee of one arm and one leg.
If your not changing coil springs and the shocks are not the air shock type, new shocks should not change the ride heighth.
Take a test light to the switch and the wires going to and from. You should be able to eliminate or confirm the whole switch area as a problem with a test light.
I'm looking for a guy with a Tech 2 myself. I am also a little sketchy on electrics but always willing to try.
I'd like to turn off my AFM, Turn on remote start' and maybe adjust the transmission to civilian.
Do you have voltage at the Fuse? Have you looked under the dash for any loose wires?
Just buy cheap rear window switches on Ebay and plug & play. The way that they are non function is a foney switch for the ppv.
I'd be looking for a removed toggle or something that has left the brake light circuit open. Find the fuse and see if it's got power or blown too.
Keep google searching...
I think if you use a heat gun and keep warming up an area and not just one spot, you might be able to pull and peel it off like a decal. I used a heat gun to remove some decal from my PPV and as I peeled it would come off real nice as long as it wasn't too hot or too cold.
I would try and peel it off. If the original silver that's next to the black looks un touched, the black may have been sprayed on without sanding the surface. If so, it may power wash off. Worth a try.
I already blacked out the front and rear bowties. I used some black decal material I bought on Ebay for cheap. Came out decent. I just thought the Yukon cover looks real clean.
What about gloss black door handle covers? I see them on ebay and they are alot cheaper than new handles. I'm just thinking more gloss black than flat looks nicer.
I was trying to remove the liftgate bowtie emblem for a more clean look on the back. I found that there are some pins that line it up and then adhesive. Because of the pins, I will be left with holes exposed.
Has anyone ever replaced the cover with a Yukon cover that has no emblem? Wondering...
