    Painting interior panels - problem

Actually, they are the dark charcoal ones from a H2. The back ones will be pure black, but the hummer had the closest to actual black that I could find.

    Painting interior panels - problem

I sprayed he headliner with the Dupli color Black Vinyl and Cloth paint. Worked great. Super black now. Next is the 2nd row of seats and then the interior door panels. Here are the front seats with console. You wanted to see how white looks:

Does anyone know what this is? Stub for rear entertainment? How does it fit in that white plastic holder? Thanks in advance!

    Painting interior panels - problem

Yeah, it's been a heck of a slog. It seems like every step is more complicated than I realize, but I think Im on the down slope now

    Headliner design

It's amazing that not only is the electrical harness glued to the fiberglass in the truck, there is no easy disconnect without tearing the entire dash apart. Would have been so easy to just have a connector in the driver A pillar. I am going to reattach the harness to the roof of the truck...

    Painting interior panels - problem

They are not installed yet. I am doing the headliner today. Keep in mind, I dont have all of the side cladding (white) and everything installed yet. I fixed the seat control panel, it was wrapped, and I recently painted it. But this gives you an idea:

    Painting interior panels - problem

yes, I actually finished the front. I cheated and used a dash skin that was black. That rear console panel looks grey, but I think that is the camera, everything looks same color white to me. I have new leather on my seats and it's white also. I am going to spray the headliner black before...

    Painting interior panels - problem

Maybe is an 03 thing. The paint is not a normal paint, its almost like a very thin rubber they spray on. It scratches easily and peels, but is a pain to sand off. Its only on the dash pieces, the bezel, and the panels under the wheel and glovebox. The rest of the car has plastic without a coating

    Painting interior panels - problem

I would trade with you in a hot second. This rubbery stuff buckles if you use *anything* on it like adhesion promoter, or paint prep grease remover. Have to sand it off

    Painting interior panels - problem

Yes, the dash pieces all have this rubbery paint coating. I ended up buying one of those black dash caps and a dash bezel from a 2500HD that was already black plastic. I covered the lower dash kick panel and glovebox with white vinyl pleather. Im putting everything back together and will have...

Yeah, good advice. I think I will try the thinner and scotchbrite. This project is going on so long already....

    Painting interior panels - problem

Im trying to remove the surface texture. The stuff that looks like elephant skin. It seems like there is some sort of slick surface on these panels that does not come off with soap or even paint prep spray. When I sand it down then it gets closer to what looks like regular plastic. I had luck...

    Painting interior panels - problem

Yeah, I think oily was the issue. Sanding them down seems to get a better surface to work with. The other issue is the plastic is soft, so its easy to scratch paint that tries to adhere.

    Painting interior panels - problem

Yes, Im trying to paint the plastic parts like the door pillars and the rear wheel covers. That plastic does not seem to like duplicolor very much. I have sanded down my console pieces, used the bulldog adhesive, primered and painted....the clear is going on this week. Lets see if that works.

    Hummer H2 Seatbelt question

So I wanted to use the black seatbelts from a H2. The issue is the airbag seatbelt pre-tensioner is located on the retractor for the Tahoe and in the buckle on the H2. I have the buckle on order and the plugs look the same as the Tahoe. Do we know if the computer is going to accept that, or...

    Painting interior panels - problem

Maybe I am doing it too fast and not letting things cure enough, but the paint easily scratches showing primer. Its simply not durable and not "bonding" with the plastic or primer. I tried wet sanding the clear after a about an hour, but perhaps this needs to cure a lot longer...

    Painting interior panels - problem

Here is the latest step I am trying: Sanded down all of the "elephant skin" from the plastic. 80, 220 then 320 wet. I am trying the Bulldog adhesive, then Duplicolor sandable filler primer Next I will do Enamel color several coats and then the clear coat. Im testing on a small piece to see...

    Painting interior panels - problem

I am trying to paint the grey interior panels a black color. I have tried everything, but paint won't stick. I rough up the surface with some 240 grit. Use paint adhesive and then duplicolor black vinyl paint. Scrapes off easily. Same thing, with Enamel...scrapes off. Seems like that plastic...

GM OEM eFans vs Flex-a-lite question

Im just concerned about messing with the PCM wiring. You are knowledgeable and being new I respect that greatly. Do you have a recommendation on a radiator probe and controller? Im happy to do my own research, but if someone had success I would be interested. Thanks so much

GM OEM eFans vs Flex-a-lite question

I am also wondering about the hassle of using the PCM to control the fans vs just using a temperature sensor near the inlet side of the radiator to control the fan speed. I don't have a programmer yet, and would like to avoid buying the hptune right now.
