Can i run my 2005 Yukon 5.3l with 8 quarts of oil in it

I called them and they are putting it all in my lap.
What is their reasoning for doing that? Did they even offer to reinspect their work, as they should have? Tell us you did not call them and accuse them right off the bat? If you reason with them and give them the info you post here, they should want to at least reinspect.

If it was zero pressure at startup why did you even take the truck? I would have demanded an explanation before moving it one inch.

This is My thread also. At this point I'm trying to build a case that they screwed up, and I think they have.

My unstated point was that it is usually more efficient to keep the info in one thread instead of replicating info in multiple places. This keeps the responses on point and in one place instead of having members answers in different threads.

Agreed with everyone here. The shop added oil after the work and one of the things any reasonable mechanical would do is check for oil pressure.

Why that wasn't done and delivered the vehicle back to the customer w/o mentioning anything, is beyond me?

I suppose you're right, but it was 2 different questions and I needed the info as quickly as possible, that being the reason for this post.

The owner of the shop is telling me he bets it is the stepper motor in the gauge. I can replace that to eliminate it as a possibility.

Just tell me this. With 7 quarts of oil in the truck, I can point the nose downhill and it immediately has proper oil pressure at startup. If I just point it uphill, it will have zero oil pressure. I can do this numerous times and the results are the same.

What can cause this? My other mechanic I have been discussing this with says the pickup tube seal is the only thing that can cause this. I mean it ain't complicated. There is the pump inlet. O-ring, and pickup tube. There was zero sludge in the pan, and almost zero carbon build up of any kind.

If the bypass valve was stuck, just changing the angle of the truck wouldn't do anything, it would still be stuck.
